GENERAL

 

AP STUDENTS:  All AP students must attend a MANDATORY Pre-Administration session in order to fill out all AP Exam paper work before testing.  The Pre-Administration session dates will be Wednesday, April 27th and Thursday, April 28th at lunch time in the A-Lecture Hall.  Students MUST attend one of these sessions!!!  If you have any questions please see Ms. Lavalle in The Counseling Office.

 

DANCE TEAM:  This Friday, April 29th, the Canyon Dance Team Presents "Back to the 80's" at 7:00 in the Canyon High School Gym. It's going to be a great show, featuring the dance team, drumline, colorguard, and more! Don't miss it! Tickets are $10 at the door.

 

GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY, in Washington DC, has a pre-College Program in the Arts; rising seniors can earn 2 credits in Contemporary Documentary Photography or in Creative Non-fiction Seminar (July 10-29).   For student’s grades 9 - 11, they may take non-credit courses in Photojournalism, Theater: Onstage and Off, or Writing in the City (July 10-22). STUDENT TALENT RALLY:  The Student Talent Rally is May13!  If you want to be in it, the sign-up sheets are outside of ASB.  Deadline to sign-up is TODAY.  Auditions to be in the Rally will start on April 27.  So come and show off your talent.

SENIORS

 

SENIORS:  Please make sure you are reading the bulletin everyday if you are looking for scholarships.  From now until graduation new scholarships are rolling in daily.  Many of these are for Canyon students only and you have a great shot at money for school.  Don't miss out on these scholarship opportunities!  Even if you are AP testing, make sure to read a bulletin!!

 

BRIAN K. JERRY SCHOLARSHIP:  A $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior boy or girl who meets the following qualifications:  A senior with a 2.0 - 3.0 GPA, a varsity letter winner, well liked by peers, strong affection for Canyon, and will attend a 2 or 4-year college in the fall.  Please pick up an application in the counseling office.  The application is due this Friday, April 29th.

 

DON JERRY FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP:  A $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a Canyon senior who will attend a 2 or 4-year college, has a GPA of 2.5 or higher and plans to become a teacher.  Please pick up an application in the counseling office.  The application is due this Friday, April 29th.

 

SENIOR MEN:  The Tim and Danny Renolds Memorial Scholarship is just for Canyon students!  If you are a male athlete with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.5 and intend to go to a trade school, community college, or university you have a really great chance of getting this scholarship!  Please pick up an application in the counseling office and return it by Friday, April 29th.

 

HEY SENIOR COWBOYS:  Have you enjoyed your years at Canyon?  Will you be hard to forget?  Apply for the Canyon Staff Scholarship in room G-105 or the counseling office.

CSF SEALBEARERS:  The list of 2011 Sealbearers is now posted outside room C8.  If your name is on the list, you are eligible to apply for one of the $500 scholarships being offered by our CSF chapter.  Pick up a scholarship application in room C8--at lunch only--any day this week.  Completed applications are due back to C8 no later than Wednesday, April 27.

 

SENIOR SPEAKER FOR GRADUATION:  Any Senior wishing to audition for Senior Speaker for Graduation should sign up in Assistant Principals Office and pick up a speech/audition information sheet.  Please do this as soon as possible.  Audition sigh-ups will end on May 9.  Auditions are on the morning of May 11.  Sign up early to get the audition time of your choice!  If you have any questions, please see

SENIORS: There is a $250 scholarship for a student that has taken Automotive ROP.  Please stop by the counseling office for an application.

 

SENIORS:  There is a $1500 scholarship for a student who has a parent/guardian that is a government worker (police officer, teacher, firefighter, postal employee, military, any federal, state, or local government worker).  If you have at least a 3.0 GPA, please stop by the counseling office to pick up an application.

 

SENIORS: There is a $5000 scholarship for a senior with asthma that has at least a 3.5 GPA.  You must have also received at least one award in one of the following categories:  dance, music, theater, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, community service, athletics, or science.   Please pick up an application in the counseling office.
