GENERAL

AWARDS BANQUET IS NEXT WEEK!  If you earned a 3.5 or higher grade point average for Fall Semester 2010, you should have received an invitation to the Spring Academic Awards Banquet to be held on Wednesday, April 27.  Deadline to turn in the RSVP to the Assistant Principal’s Office and purchase dinner tickets from ASB is FRIDAY, APRIL 22.   No tickets will be sold at the door.  Please contact Mrs. Hayes-Rennels in the AP Office if you have any questions.

AVID FUNDRAISER! On Tuesday, April 19th, The Habit on Golden Valley Parkway is donating part of their profits to the AVID program when you buy delicious food between 4 and 9. All you have to do is show up, buy a yummy cheeseburger and a creamy chocolate shake, and mention that you're from Canyon High's AVID program- no flyer needed!  Go get some fries- you know you want some... thanks for helping AVID, cowboys!

CONGRATULATIONS to the choirs who just returned from a tour of New York.  While in competition in New York, the choirs received 2 second place trophies, 2 first place trophies, and a trophy for the Most Outstanding Choir at the festival.  The choirs represented Canyon High School very well!  Great job, choirs! 

STUDENT TALENT RALLY:  The Student Talent Rally is May13!  If you want to be in it, the sign-up sheets are outside of ASB.  Deadline to sign-up is April 25.  Auditions to be in the Rally will start on April 27.  So come and show off your talent.

AVOID PESKY LIBRARY FINES! Take a moment to look inside the cover to check your book's due date. If it's due today, stop by the library and renew or return it. If it's overdue, avoid building up a bigger fine by renewing it or returning it as soon as possible.

DRESS CODE:  Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School.  Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through or backless shirts and swim suit tops are NOT ALLOWED!  Also, gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed.  T-shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited.

TRI-M ARTS WEEK will be April 25-29. Please come support your fellow classmates in their performances each day of the week at lunch. Prepare to be dazzled by the Jazz Ensemble, Madrigals, Improv team and Visual Arts! Stay "Tuned" for more information!

SENIORS

CSF SEALBEARERS:  The list of 2011 Sealbearers is now posted outside room C8.  If your name is on the list, you are eligible to apply for one of the $500 scholarships being offered by our CSF chapter.  Pick up a scholarship application in room C8--at lunch only--any day this week.  Completed applications are due back to C8 no later than Wednesday, April 27.

ATTENTION OPERATION US SENIORS: If you would like to purchase black and gold Operation US cords for graduation please see Ms. Mast in E3.  Cords are $7.  The order will be placed Friday April 22. 

SENIORS:  There is a $1500 scholarship for a student who has a parent/guardian that is a government worker (police officer, teacher, firefighter, postal employee, military, any federal, state, or local government worker).  If you have at least a 3.0 GPA, please stop by the counseling office to pick up an application.

SENIORS: There is a $5000 scholarship for a senior with asthma that has at least a 3.5 GPA.  You must have also received at least one award in one of the following categories:  dance, music, theater, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, community service, athletics, or science.   Please pick up an application in the counseling office.
