GENERAL

 

GIRLS ARE YOU STILL IN NEED OF A PROM DRESS?  Well you are in luck because Operation Cinderella has over 100 dresses of all different sizes, styles and colors.  Come and check them out in Ms. King’s room, G-105.  Hurry!!!

 

JUST A REMINDER TO ALL PROM GOING COWBOYS, please be in your assigned room by 5:00 pm.  At Prom, there will only be a coat check for the boy's tuxes so make sure whatever you bring and don't want to carry can fit in your date's coat pocket. You will need to have shoes on the whole time.  Remember to take your pictures before Promenade, and leave all chapstick, gum, and perfume at home!

 

DRESS CODE:  Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School.  Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through or backless shirts and swim suit tops are NOT ALLOWED!  Also, gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed.  T-shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited.

 

ATTENTION SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY OFFICER CANDIDATES!  If you are hoping to hold a Spanish Honor Society officer position for the 2011-2012 school year, come to D-2 at lunch this Thursday for your interview.  Please come prepared with all of your terrific ideas! 

 

TRI-M ARTS WEEK will be April 25-29. Please come support your fellow classmates in their performances each day of the week at lunch. Prepare to be dazzled by the Jazz Ensemble, Madrigals, Improv team and Visual Arts! Stay "Tuned" for more information!

 

3 ON 3 BASKETBALL:  Sign ups for 3 on 3 basketball are taking place in C-5 at Both brunches and at lunch in C-5!  All are welcome to sign up!

 

NEED A QUIET PLACE TO STUDY? Brush up on some skills to get ready for STAR?  Need extra help in math, science, history or English?  Tutoring Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays is just the place for you!

Come to the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-5:-00 and on Wednesdays from 4-6pm in the library to get help from peer tutors and teachers.  See you there!  Remember...no food or drink allowed in the library :P

 

HEY KEY CLUBBERS! Go to the Habit TODAY from 4-9pm! Pick up flyers in V-1 or print one off our Canyon Key Club Facebook! Members receive one hour with receipt.

      

MEETINGS

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and other board games will meet in G-117 at lunch.  Bring your lunch, skill, enthusiasm and play/ learn the game of Kings and Queens.  Questions, please see Mr. Clark

SENIORS

 

ARE YOU ATTENDING COC IN THE FALL?  If you are, please come to the A-Lecture Hall on Thursday, April 14th at lunch, where a representative from COC will be explaining their FYE program.  The First-Year Experience Program was designed to assist students with the difficult transition from high school to college.  COC’s FYE Program also guarantees that first-time college students will have access to general studies courses in their first year.  There are many other valuable advantages available to students in the FYE Program.  Please join us in the A-Lecture Hall on Thursday, April 14th at lunch to learn more. 

 

SENIOR STARS:  If you have been accepted to a 4-year college or university and plan on attending that school in the fall, please see Mrs. Hettema in the counseling office.  We will make a star in your honor and place it on the Senior Stars bulletin board outside of the counseling office.  Also, if you have received notice of any scholarships or awards, please let Mrs. Hettema know.

 

SCHOLARSHIP:  There is a $1000 scholarship available for a senior with at least a 3.0 GPA that is also Asian and has lettered in a varsity sport.  Please stop by the counseling office for an application.

 

SENIORS: There is a $5000 scholarship for a senior with asthma that has at least a 3.5 GPA.  You must have also received at least one award in one of the following categories:  dance, music, theater, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, community service, athletics, or science.   Please pick up an application in the counseling office.
