GENERAL

ACADEMY OF THE CANYONS:  Make a change and be a part of a unique, rewarding high school experience!  If you would like to learn more about Academy of the Canyons Middle College High School, you and your parents are invited to attend an information meeting tonight at College of the Canyons Cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. 

LETTERMAN JACKET SALES: Brunches only TODAY.

YEARBOOKS:  The end of the year is right around the corner...did you buy YOUR yearbook yet? Yearbooks are on sale until spring break for $90 with ASB card and $95 w/o. Prices will increase after spring break so don't miss your last opportunity get your copy in ASB today before we sell out.

FREE SAT PREP CLASS:   Tier One SAT Prep company has offered again to donate SAT prep classes to our school for ONLY the cost of materials ($90).   There will be over 20 hours of class time plus 2 full-length proctored exams, as well as complete materials and methods for understanding the entire exam.   Classes will be held for 6 weeks on Thursdays, starting March 17th.   (Please Note:  There will be ONE Wednesday class on March 23rd, since Open House is on that Thursday.)   For the list of dates, please download the flyer from the school website, or pick up a flyer in the AP office and Counseling office.   You will call Tier One directly to register.  BUT HURRY!   DON'T FORGET!   The deadline to Register is THIS TODAY!!   All college-bound 11th graders are encouraged to take this class in preparation for the May 7th or June 4th SAT tests. 

THE ENTIRE LIBRARY will be closed for both brunches on Wednesday, March 16th. The counseling department is giving the ASVAB test. If you're interested in signing up for the ASVAB, check with your counselor.

REVOLUTION PREP SAT CLASSES!  Juniors- it's that time!  Are you stressed about the SATs?  Did you know we have a class here on campus, taught by our very own Ms. Jones, that's starting in just a few weeks?  Check revolutionprep.com for more info or visit her in E5 but hurry- classes start March 19th! 

HEY ALL YOU CREATIVE COWBOYS, if you like to write short stories or poetry, we have the elective for you!  Next year Canyon will offer Lit Magazine as an elective class.  The class will work on creative writing skills and will be in charge of producing the annual literary magazine.  We will also be teaming up with yearbook to work on various projects as a group.  If you are searching for a way to express yourself through your writing, this is the class for you!  Please see Ms. Feix in C4 or Mr. McCann in the T building if you are interested in signing up.

THE ASVAB will be given at Canyon on Wednesday, March 16 from 8 am through Lunch and is available for free to all Canyon Students. The ASVAB can be a valuable tool to understand areas of personal strength and areas to focus on improvement as well as a vocational assessment. Successful completion of the ASVAB comes with no strings attached and it is only once a student is out of high school that the ASVAB is taken purely as a military assessment and placement tool as part of the process to enter the military. Sign-ups will be in the Counseling Officer starting on February 24th, 2011.

SENIORS

SENIORS:   DeVry University's Presidential Scholarship is worth up to $32,500!   Seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.33 or higher, plus an SAT score of at least 1100 on the combined Math & Critical Reading sections / or / a 2400 on the ACT test, will qualify to apply for this scholarship.  DON'T WAIT - Call the representative from DeVry (James Shanbrom) at (661) 547-2422 or email him at [email protected]  immediately.  This application is DUE next MONDAY, MARCH 14  !!!
