CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM!!!  They continue on to CIF Semifinals on Saturday playing Buena of Ventura.  Game site is still to be determined but it will be in Ventura.  GOOD LUCK COWBOYS!!!

Mock SAT-- Attention sophomores and juniors!  Are you stressed about the SATs?  Do you wish you could take a practice test before taking an exam that will really count towards your college applications?  You're in luck!  Revolution Prep is offering a practice SAT here on campus, in room E5, on March 12th for just $20- the test will run from 8:45 to 1:00, and you'll receive a detailed score report just days after you take the test!  Interested?  Visit revolutionprep.com or stop by to see Ms. Jones in E5 for more details.  Hurry- space is limited!

 

WHAT WILL YOU REMEMBER ABOUT YOUR TIME AT CANYON IN 10 YEARS?  Yearbook is now accepting applications for the 2012 staff. We are looking for creative and motivated freshman and sophomores to join our team. Yearbook is a fun, but demanding class that will challenge your skills in many areas... We need photographers, writers, designers, and anyone motivated to learn the yearbook trade. See your counselor or Mr. McCann in the T building to get an application today.

 

 

DO YOU LIKE TO COOK?  Have you taken Culinary 1 and 2?  See your counselor to sign up for

Culinary 3 next semester.

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  AP students will receive AP Exam Registration information starting on Thursday, March 4, 2011.  AP Exam registration will start March 7th and run through March 18th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $88, unless the student participates in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Shwamb in the Health office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!

NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

 

THE ASVAB will be given at Canyon on Wednesday, March 16 from 8 am through Lunch and is available for free to all Canyon Students. The ASVAB can be a valuable tool to understand areas of personal strength and areas to focus on improvement as well as a vocational assessment. Successful completion of the ASVAB comes with no strings attached and it is only once a student is out of high school that the ASVAB is taken purely as a military assessment and placement tool as part of the process to enter the military. Sign-ups will be in the Counseling Officer starting on February 24th, 2011.

 

MATCHMAKER RESULTS:  It’s never too late to find your perfect match.  Go to the front of ASB at brunch or lunch all this week to buy your Matchmaker results.  The prices are 1 for $3.00, 2 for $5.00, and 3 for $6.00. 

 

HEY KEY CLUBBERS!  If you are a freshman or sophomore, then we encourage you to sign up for our executive board.  Also, remember that interviews for potential officers are TODAY in room V-1 at lunch.  We are also having a fundraiser for Pennies for Patients.  Donate during you second period class, and the class that raises the most money will get a donut party.

 

MEETINGS

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and other board games will meet in G-127 at lunch.  Bring your lunch, skill, enthusiasm and play/ learn the game of Kings and Queens.  Questions, please see Mr. Clark

 

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL CLUB:  There is a meeting next week on Wednesday, March 2 at lunch in room U-7.  See you there..

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS:  Are you planning on becoming a teacher?  There is a local scholarship of approximately $2000 if you want to become a teacher and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  Please stop by the counseling office if you are interested.
