DO YOU LIKE TO COOK?  Have you taken Culinary 1 and 2?  See your counselor to sign up for

Culinary 3 next semester.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  AP students will receive AP Exam Registration information starting on Thursday, March 4, 2011.  AP Exam registration will start March 7th and run through March 18th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $88, unless the student participates in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Nelson in the AP office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!

NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

THE ASVAB will be given at Canyon on Wednesday, March 16 from 8 am through Lunch and is available for free to all Canyon Students. The ASVAB can be a valuable tool to understand areas of personal strength and areas to focus on improvement as well as a vocational assessment. Successful completion of the ASVAB comes with no strings attached and it is only once a student is out of high school that the ASVAB is taken purely as a military assessment and placement tool as part of the process to enter the military. Sign-ups will be in the Counseling Officer starting on February 24th, 2011.

MATCHMAKER RESULTS:  It’s never too late to find your perfect match.  Go to the front of ASB at brunch or lunch all this week to buy your Matchmaker results.  The prices are 1 for $3.00, 2 for $5.00, and 3 for $6.00.

HEY KEY CLUBBERS!  If you are a freshman or sophomore, then we encourage you to sign up for our executive board.  Also, remember that interviews for potential officers are this Friday, February 25, in room V-1 at lunch.  We are also having a fundraiser for Pennies for Patients.  Donate during you second period class, and the class that raises the most money will get a donut party.

CALLING ALL MEN!  Don’t forget to register for Selective Service within 30 days of your 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for financial aid, government jobs and job training. It’s quick. It’s easy. And it’s the law. To register in less than 2 minutes, go to www.sss.gov.

SENIORS

SENIORS:  Are you planning on becoming a teacher?  There is a local scholarship of approximately $2000 if you want to become a teacher and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  Please stop by the counseling office if you are interested.
