GENERAL

 

CIF BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS:  Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams for the wonderful season they both had.  Boys Basketball has a playoff game at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Buena High School in Ventura.  The Girls Basketball team plays at home at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.  Pre-sale CIF tickets are on sale in the ASB Office, before school, brunch and lunch.  Presale tickets with a student ID are $5.00.  Adults and Senior Citizens are $8.00.  The cost at the door for everyone is $8.00.

CAL DAY at UC Berkeley is Saturday, April 16th from 9am to 4pm.  Visit labs, talk with professors, take in a student performance or any of the 300 events scheduled at top-rated public university.  Admission is free; for more info later this spring see Cal Day activities at calday.berkeley.edu or call 510.642.2294. 

 

OPERATION SMILES is having a raffle for a $50 gift card to California Pizza Kitchen.  The tickets are $2.00 each and can be purchased in F-6 at brunch and lunch.  You may also buy them from any club member.  The raffle will be held on food day, Thursday, February 17 during lunch at the club table.

 

MAGIC MOUNTAIN JOB FAIR:  If you want to work at Six Flags Magic Mountain or Hurricane Harbor, plan on attending their job fair on February 19th or 20th. Starts at 10 am each day in the main gate area . You need to fill out an application on line at  sixflagsjobs.com  before you go to the job fair. Anybody 14 and older can apply. ACADEMY OF THE CANYONS: Make a change and be a part of a unique, rewarding high school experience! If you would like to learn more about Academy of the Canyons Middle College High School, you and your parents are invited to attend an information meeting on Wednesday, February 23 in the Valencia High MPR at 7:00 p.m. or at College of the Canyons Cafeteria on Thursday, March 10 at

7:00 p.m.

 

CSF - The CSF spring membership list is now posted outside of room C8.  Members who would like a membership card may pick one up this week only, at lunch, in room C8.

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  AP students will receive AP Exam Registration information starting on Thursday, March 4, 2011.  AP Exam registration will start March 7th and run through March 18th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $88, unless the student participates in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Schwamb in the AP office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!

NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

 

 

 

 

JUNIORS:  Tier One, a fantastic SAT Prep company, has offered again to donate Free SAT prep classes to our school for ONLY the cost of materials ($90).   There will be over 20 hours of class time plus 2 full-length proctored exams, as well as complete materials and methods for understanding the entire exam.   Classes will be held for 6 weeks on Thursdays, starting March 17th.   (Please Note:  There will be ONE Wednesday class on March 23rd.)   See the school website for a list of class dates and the phone number to call Tier One directly in order to register before the deadline, March 10th.   Flyers are also available in both the AP office and the Counseling office.  We encourage college-bound 11th graders to take this class in preparation for the May 7th or June 4th SAT tests.

KEY CLUB:  There is a meeting TODAY in the A Lecture Hall.

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS:  There is $500 dollar scholarship available if your parent or guardian is classified employee of the Wm. S. Hart High School District AND.  Please pick up an application in the counseling office if you qualify.  Applications are due back to your counselor by March 11th, 2011. 

 

SENIORS:  Are you planning on becoming a teacher?  There is a local scholarship of approximately $2000 if you want to become a teacher and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  Please stop by the counseling office if you are interested.
