GENERAL

 

VAL-O-GRAMS --TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO BUY THEM:  Are you looking for the perfect gift to give that perfect someone on campus?  Then a Val-O-Gram is the way to go!  They are only $7 for a flower, balloon, lollipop, card and serenade of LOVE!  They are now on sale NOW and can be purchased from any choir student.  Make this season of love one to remember!

 

JUNIORS:  Tier One, a fantastic SAT Prep company, has offered again to donate Free SAT prep classes to our school for ONLY the cost of materials ($90).   There will be over 20 hours of class time plus 2 full-length proctored exams, as well as complete materials and methods for understanding the entire exam.   Classes will be held for 6 weeks on Thursdays, starting March 17th.   (Please Note:  There will be ONE Wednesday class on March 23rd.)   See the school website for a list of class dates and the phone number to call Tier One directly in order to register before the deadline, March 10th.   Flyers are also available in both the AP office and the Counseling office.  We encourage college-bound 11th graders to take this class in preparation for the May 7th or June 4th SAT tests.

 

JUNIORS:  Counselors are calling in juniors to register for classes.  Please make sure you have your pink sheet in your back pack.  In order to register, you must have the worksheet filled out including all signatures needed.  Please see teachers now for student service or specialty classes. 

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  The Advanced Placement Exams will be given the first two weeks of May.  Students will only be able to sign up and pay for exams in March.  The fee for each test is $88, unless the student is on a free or reduced lunch.  Students can see Mrs. Schwamb in the nurse’s office about this program.  Students may pay for the AP Exams March 7th through March 18th in the ASB Office. 

 

MEETINGS

 

Attention SOS members:  This months meeting will be TODAY at lunch in G-202.

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and other board games will meet in G-127 at lunch.  Bring your lunch, skill, enthusiasm and play/ learn the game of Kings and Queens.  Questions, please see Mr. Clark

 

SENIORS

 

The Navy is offering an NROTC Scholarship for graduating seniors. For more information visit the Career Center link on the Hart District homepage under the Student tab.

 

SENIORS:  If you have applied to CSUN, you are reminded that they have February 10, 2011 deadline to submit all SAT/ACT scores.  There are many students that have not submitted scores yet.  If you do not submit, you will not be accepted.  They will accept transcripts with scores posted on them. 

SENIORS:  There is a 500 dollar scholarship available for a senior female that has been on the Canyon Swim team for at least two years.  If you are on the swim team now, as a senior, and have at least a 3.5 GPA, please come to the counseling office to pick up an application. 

 

SENIORS:  There are 100 scholarships for up to $25,000 given by the GM foundation.  If you plan to major in science, technology, engineering, math, business administration, finance, marketing, or design, please apply for this scholarship.  The application can be found on www.buickachievers.com.  The application deadline is March 31st.

 

SENIORS:  Are you interested in a bachelor’s degree in programs like computer animation, game art, game development, web design and development, digital art and design, the music business, or recording arts?  Please stop by the counseling office for more information.

 

SENIORS:  There is $500 dollar scholarship available if your parent or guardian is classified employee of the Wm. S. Hart High School District AND.  Please pick up an application in the counseling office if you qualify.  Applications are due back to your counselor by March 11th, 2011. 

 

SENIORS:  Are you planning on becoming a teacher?  There is a local scholarship of approximately $2000 if you want to become a teacher and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  Please stop by the counseling office if you are interested.
