CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION (CHSPE):  The California High School Proficiency Examination will be administered on March 19, 2011.  The registration deadline is February 18, 2011 and costs $92.00.  The late registration date is March 4 and will cost $120.  This exam is for students interested in an alternative to graduating from high school so they could move ahead to higher education or prepare for a career.  You can earn the legal equivalent of a high school diploma by proving your proficiency in basic skills through the CHSPE exam.  You must be 16 years old, or, if 15, must be in your last semester of 10th grade.  See Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office for an application booklet.  For more information, go online to www.chspe.net.

The next test date this year won’t be until June 18, 2011.

JUNIORS:  Counselors are calling in juniors to register for classes.  Please make sure you have your pink sheet in your back pack.  In order to register, you must have the worksheet filled out including all signatures needed.  Please see teachers now for student service or specialty classes.  If you want to opt out of math next year, don't forget you need to have your registration form signed by your parent before you are called up.

VAL-O-GRAMS:  Are you looking for the perfect gift to give that perfect someone on campus?  Then a Val-O-Gram is the way to go!  They are only $7 for a flower, balloon, lollipop, card and serenade of LOVE!  They are now on sale NOW through February 11 and can be purchased from any choir student.  Make this season of love one to remember!

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  The Advanced Placement Exams will be given the first two weeks of May.  Students will only be able to sign up and pay for exams in March.  The fee for each test is $88, unless the student is on a free or reduced lunch.  Students can see Mrs. Schwamb in the nurse’s office about this program.  Students may pay for the AP Exams March 7th through March 18th in the ASB Office.

SUPPORT THE DANCE TEAM on Wednesdays by eating at Ameci's. Just mention Canyon when you go!
