GENERAL

 

COWBOYS AND INDIANS:  Hey Cowboys !!!!   Time Warner is filming this week's football game against Hart at COC. They are also sponsoring a halftime competition between one male and one female student from each school.  Students can sign up at the game for a chance to compete for VIP tickets to the USC/UCLA game.  GOOD LUCK COWBOYS!!!!!

 

WANT SOME FRO-YO?  Band is having a weekly fundraiser at Menchies EVERY Thursday from

11:00 a.m.  To 11:00 p.m.  NO FLYER NEEDED!   Just say you are supporting the Canyon Band. Go get your FRO-YO!

 

LADIES - There is a FREE 1-hour Self-Defense Seminar for Women of all ages - this Saturday at Central Park, starting at 12:30.  Learn some basic, introductory self-defense concepts, watch live demos, and get more information about staying safe.  If you're interested, there is a flyer attached to the Canyon website for more details.  Come sign up in the AP office if you'd like to pick up a flyer in person.

 

SWIM TEAM TRYOUTS!!  This Monday and Wednesday!!! 2:45-4:30pm @ the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. Everyone must Tryout!  Questions come by T-1 and ask Coach Himes

 

A FREE WORKSHOP for Parents/Guardians!  The Bully Busters!  Parents will learn how to identify warning signs of bullying, and what to do if your child is being mistreated. KEY CLUB:  If you still want to go to Fall Rally. Turn in your money by November 5.  It’s $44 without a season pass, and $20 with a season pass. 

 

BOOK CLUB:  Book Club will be reading Hunger Games for our next book.  If you'd like to join us for this book, please come to the library and see Mrs. Limbaugh by Nov. 8 to order your copy.  We will meet on 11/9 to continue our discussion of In the Path of Falling Objects up to page 234.  Come to H1 during lunch on Tuesday.

 

ROP GRAPHIC DESIGN is a new ROP elective offered here at Canyon this spring.  Learn to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.  You can also learn about car wrap design, apparel graphics, create advertising design and more. This class can prepare you for advanced Graphic Design courses or help you sharpen your Photoshop or apparel design skills.   Sign up in the ROP office today.

 

ROP COSMETOLOGY:  If you are planning on attending an ROP Cosmetology course in the spring, you must see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office for upcoming entrance test dates. 

MEETINGS

 

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY is meeting TODAY at Lunch in room T4. All members must attend.

 

KEY CLUB:  There is a General meeting on November 9 and 10.

 

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL:  There is a meeting November 10 at lunch in U-7.

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS:  It's time to start preparing for Graduation.  The first step is to order your Cap & Gown, Graduation Announcements, and other Senior memorabilia.

JOSTENS will be on campus accepting orders on:    TODAY During Gov’t/Econ Classes                         Outside the “B” Building.    Ordering information has been distributed in class!!!

Be prepared to bring your completed order form and down payment on this day.  DON'T FORGET EVERY SENIOR MUST TURN IN THEIR CAP & GOWN SIZES on this day!

Remember … any Senior ordering their Class Ring and any GRAD Package on order day will receive their Cap & Gown for FREE!  See your catalog for details. 

 

INTERESTED IN DRAG RACING?  FAN FEST, sponsored by Universal Technical Institute and the NHRA invites you to come on November 6th, from 10 am -2pm, to see the NHRA Full Throttle Dragsters and meet the drivers.  They will have High School Challenge Pre-lims, local car club displays, campus tours, food, prizes, & giveaways.  9494 Haven Ave., Rancho Cucamonga, If you will be attending, call Joan Sierra, at 818.307.5061.

 

INTERESTED IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?  Attend FIDM's (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) Fall Open House, November 20th, learn about the 20 majors they offer, explore the campus, get advice from grads, bring your artwork & transcripts for feedback from FIDM Advisors, from 11 am to 1 pm, 919 South Grand Avenue, LA, 90015, call 800.624.1200 or fidm.edu 

 

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN ATTENDING UC IRVINE?  If so, become a college student for a day! This coming spring UCI is offering a "STAY-OVER Program".  This program is for high school juniors and seniors, 16 and over, that have already decided that they are attending college.  The program starts at noon and participants will be able to stay over night in a dorm, eat in the dining common's, go to class with their host, and learn about the clubs, activities, and resources available at UC Irvine.  There is a $25 non-refundable fee, which includes 2 meals and a T-shirt.  This is available Monday through Thursdays only, most days from Jan. 12 through March 3rd, 2011.  Contact Christina Harrison or Kellen McManus, 949.824.5167, www.housing.uci.edu/sop/ or [email protected]
