CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS AND FACULTY:  The library will be closing at 2:00 p.m. on

Friday, October 8.  It will not be open to 7th Open Period Students and it will not be open after school.

 

CANYON FOOTBALL GAMES: Hey Cowboys!!  Here are a few reminders to students –once you enter the football game and leave YOU MAY NOT RE-ENTER.  If you need a jacket, blanket, hat, etc. make sure you bring them in with you when you arrive at the game.  SKATEBOARDS AND SCOOTERS are NOT ALLOWED in the stadium or in the parking lot.  ALL BALLS --- FOOTBALLS, BASEBALLS, BASKETBALLS, AND TENNIS BALLS ETC. ARE NOT ALLOWED-- DO NOT BRING THEM WITH YOU all balls will be confiscated!!  Since this is a school sponsored event, the Canyon High School DRESS CODE will be strictly enforced.  ANY inappropriate attire (clothing, accessories, or headgear) will result in entrance refusal and possible removal if non-compliant.  Body paint and noise makers are also not allowed.  Thank you for your co-operation. 

 

STUDENTS:  This Friday is Snapshot Day in the library.  We are compiling information to show our district and the state the importance of school libraries.  To help out, please complete a survey when you come into the library on Friday.  When you return it, you will be given a raffle ticket.  Fill in your name and ID # and put it in the slotted box for a chance to win a Barnes and Noble gift certificate.

 

NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM ON MEDICINE will be held in the summer of 2011.  If you have academic excellence, leadership potential, and are in high school, and are interested in attending, let your counselor know.  The forum lasts 10 days and you can attend in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, or Washington DC.  Nominations deadline is October 8th, 2010.

 

BOOK CLUB’S next meeting will be on Oct. 12 during lunch in H1.  We are reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  For the next meeting please read to page 238.  Bring your lunch and we'll see you there.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR COLLEGE 2 CAREER DAY on October 9, 2010 from 9 am to 1 pm at College of the Canyons. The event will showcase certificate and degree programs available at COC that can lead to well paid jobs following graduation. In addition, a college fair will also be taking place with over 30 local and out-of-state schools represented.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY will meet on Thursday Oct. 7th at lunch in room T4.

 

 

 

 

 

SENIORS

 

FREE COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP: Mick Endersbe brings his 20 years of Educational Financial Planning Experience to Canyon with a free workshop at 7 pm on October 13 in the Library.  This workshop will focus on Cost/Value analysis, how to research aid, Fed. Tax programs and will include a Q&A session.
