GENERAL

 

CANYON FOOTBALL GAMES: Hey Cowboys!!  Here are a few reminders to students –once you enter the football game and leave YOU MAY NOT RE-ENTER.  If you need a jacket, blanket, hat, etc. make sure you bring them in with you when you arrive at the game.  SKATEBOARDS AND SCOOTERS are NOT ALLOWED in the stadium or in the parking lot.  DO NOT BRING THEM WITH YOU!!  Since this is a school sponsored event, the Canyon High School DRESS CODE will be strictly enforced.  ANY inappropriate attire (clothing, accessories, or headgear) will result in entrance refusal and possible removal if non-compliant.  Body paint and noise makers are also not allowed.  Thank you for your

ADULT/YOUTH ASB CARDS:  Can be picked up in the ASB office-- or at the football game-- next to the ticket booth at the Main Entrance.

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  Attention all Spanish Honor Society members:  If you missed signing up for your required Tutoring Tuesday/Thursday hours, your last opportunity to sign up is this Thursday, 9/14, in room D-2 at lunch.

 

DODGEBALL! Dodge, Duck, Dive, and Dodge. Dodgeball sign ups are taking place in room C-5 at both brunches and lunch. Get your team together and sign up ASAP! 

 

HEY COWBOYS!!  Looking for a refreshing treat on a hot summer day?  EVERY Tuesday after school there will be a Shave-It truck out in the Senior Parking lot from 3-4 p.m.  Support the school band and buy some Shave-It! 

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  Students PLEASE DO NOT call or text your parents from a classroom or on campus to tell them you don’t feel well.  GET A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER TO GO TO THE HEALTH OFFICE.  Mrs. Schwamb will call your parents from the Health Office. 

 

DRESS CODE:  Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School.  Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through or backless shirts and swim suit tops are NOT ALLOWED!  Also, gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed.  T-shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited.

 

SCHOOL PICTURES ARE IN, they are available to pick up outside the J bldg, during both brunches and lunch.

 

 

TUTORING TUESDAY AND THURSDAYS IS BACK!  Need a quiet place to study? Have questions about your homework, projects, or tests?  Every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-5:00 in the Library.  Teachers and student tutors in Science, Math, English, and Social Studies will be available to answer questions and help you with your work!  Starts September 14! No sign-up necessary! Just show up! SEE YOU THERE!

 

MEETINGS

 

STUDENT TASK FORCE:  Has a meeting today in room G-201 at lunch.

 

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL is meeting TODAY at lunch in U-7.  See you there.

 

ANIME CLUB is meeting today in room G-220

 

BOOK CLUB MEETING:  Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at lunch in H1.  We will be discussing Dirty Little Secrets.  Anyone is welcome.  Bring your lunch and we will see you there.

 

OPERATION US: Our next meeting is Wednesday September 15th at lunch in E3.  Please bring our completed permission slips.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, see Ms. Mast in E3 Monday or Tuesday.

 

NHS MEMBERS:  Our first NHS meeting is Wednesday at lunch in G-105.

 

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY meeting this Thursday (Sept. 16th) at Lunch in room T4. All members must attend & new members are welcome.

 

SENIORS

 

COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS: Attention Seniors: The UC and CSU Application Windows are opening October 1st and it's time to get prepared. There will be a UC Application Workshop on September 17, 2010 Starting 5th period and running until lunch; this workshop will focus on the Application, Personal Statement and give a quick overview of UC Merced. The CSU Application Workshop will take place on October 1, 2010 from 5th period through lunch and will cover the Application Process, CSU Mentor and give a quick overview of CSU Northridge. These are for seniors only and you must sign up in the counseling office and have your 5th period teacher sign your permission slip.

 

 

FREE COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP - Mick Endersbe brings his 20 years of Educational Financial Planning Experience to Canyon with a free workshop at 7 pm on October 13 in the Library.  This workshop will focus on Cost/Value analysis, how to research aid, Fed. Tax programs and will include a Q&A session.
