CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

 

All Canyon students are reminded that when we have minimum day, they may NOT visit other campuses, including Sierra Vista.  Other schools are in full day session and it is a trespassing violation to be on their campus while their school is in session.  Avoid disciplinary action and a trespassing ticket!  Do not visit other schools when Canyon has a minimum day!

 

ALL STUDENTS:  If you have dropped or changed a class, please return the textbook for that class.  Other students may be waiting for your book.  Also remember, damage waiver forms are due back by Friday September 10th.  If you have any questions contact Mrs. Kulesz in the textbook center.

 

ID CARDS:  If you have not gotten your ID card for this year, come to the textbook center during brunch or lunch to get one.  Please bring a copy of your schedule with you.

 

CSF - Completed applications are to be handed in to C8 this week at lunch only, CSF business will be handled at no other time of the day but lunch.   Remember, you must have all required items for your application to be accepted.

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  Do you enjoy books?  Do you enjoy talking?  Combine the two and come to the Book Club meeting this Thursday during lunch in the library.  We will discuss what day we want to meet and with which book to start off the year.  Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to see Mrs. Limbaugh in the library.

 

FREE SAT PREP CLASS:  11th and 12th graders are invited to sign up for the Tier One SAT Prep Class being held at Canyon on Wednesdays for 6 weeks beginning September 1st.  The only cost is $75 for materials that you get to keep.  Don't miss out on this great opportunity!  Watch your SAT test scores improve dramatically over this 6-week course.  Pick up a flyer from the Counseling or AP office.  Deadline to register is this Thursday, August 26.

 

STUDENT ID CARDS: Anyone who has not gotten an ID card for this school year must go to the textbook center to get one.  Please bring your copy of your schedule with you.  The textbook center is open to make ID's during brunch, lunch and after school until 3:30.

 

STUDENT PARKING PERMITS: Only seniors may buy from 8/16 - 8/27

                          Passes are open to all juniors starting 8/30 $20.  Pick up paperwork outside ASB office, parent signature, and proof of registration and insurance.

 

 

 

 

 

ALL STUDENTS that have an open period or an athletics/ROTC/extracurricular activity will need their ID to reflect this.  These are new instructions to process your ID.

 

Please go to the Assistant Principals Office:

 

Students that have their schedule may get an open sticker instantly as time permits.

 

Students who do not have their schedule can drop their ID off at the AP Office at brunch.  The first 150 turned in will be processed and ready for pick up at that same location during lunch.

 

If you have an athletics or extracurricular activity, you must present your completed Release from Athletic P.E./Extra Curricular Activities form that you received from your coach or teacher to receive your sticker.

Blank forms are located in the AP office on the counter.

 

MEETINGS

 

OPERATION SMILES is meeting in F-6 at lunch TODAY.  Please check it out.  Come in and join!

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  Are you ready to start learning more about the Latino culture?

We will have our first mandatory meeting this Thursday at lunch in D2.  You must attend in order to be considered to be a member of the club.  Be on time!!!  Any questions ask Sra. Seidenkranz or Sra. Santos.

 

HEY KEY CLUBBERS:  There is a meeting in the A-Lecture Hall TODAY for old members and on

August 26 for any student that wants to join Key Club.  Hours are due for old members.  You have until September 3 to turn them in. 

 

DANCE CLUB MEETING:  Room S-4 at lunch today.

 

SENIORS

 

SAT CLASSES STARTING AUGUST 28th-- Seniors!  It's time to get those SAT scores up for college applications!  Juniors- get started early!  Revolution Prep will hold an SAT prep class here on campus starting August 28th taught by our very own Ms. Jones.  Questions?  Visit revolutionprep.com or stop by to see her in E5 as soon as you can!
