GENERAL

 

ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT THE CANYON YEARBOOK STAFF? Come be a part of Canyon's award winning yearbook staff. We are currently accepting applications for the 2011 staff and priority is given to next year's Sophomores and Juniors. We need photographers, writers, and generally creative outgoing people. Applications are available in the counseling office or from this year's staff members. Applications must be returned by spring break.

 

BOOK FAIR IS HERE!! Come to H1 and check it out.  There are books for everyone.  It is open brunch and lunch.  Participate in our contest.

 

CONGRATULATIONS to Garrett Cervetto!  He placed first in the state qualifier speech and debate tournament in Original Prose and Poetry.  He moves on to the state tournament on April 16-18.  Good Luck!

 

CANYON HIGH SCHOOL will host Parent Shadow Day on March 25, 2010 from 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM. If your parents or guardians are interested in attending the event, please RSVP with Ms. Haro in the AP's office.

 

AND THE NOMINEES ARE………JAZZ/POP!!  That’s right!!  Canyon’s biggest show featuring singing, dancing and acting is next week!  This is an award-winning performance—You don’t want to miss it.

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  If you are interested in becoming an officer for the 2010-2011 school year, please see Mrs. Santos in room D-4 at brunch or lunch this week for information.  Interviews will take place on March 30th at lunch.

 

COC WILL HOST AN OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, April 22nd, for all our Juniors and Seniors and their parents from 5:30 to 7pm.  Golden Valley is also invited to the same OPEN HOUSE.  It will be at the CANYON COUNTRY CAMPUS on Sierra Highway.  Invitations will be sent to parents. There will be a campus tour and information about admissions, registration, orientation, placement testing, counseling, financial aid and more!

 

KEY CLUB:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  Do you need hours?  Here is an opportunity for you.  Sign up to work for the Master’s Swim meet on March 20 and track meet on March 27.  Go to V-1 for more information.

 

BOOK CLUB:  Our next selection will be Gravity by Tess Gerritsen.  The cost of the book for students will be $3.50.  To order a copy, see Mrs. Limbaugh in the library by Thursday.  Read about what happens on the Space Station. 

 

CHEER TRYOUTS:  IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR!!  CANYON CHEER TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD RIGHT AFTER SPRING BREAK!  PLAN AHEAD...IMPORTANT PARENT MEETINGS WILL BE HELD MON, MAR 29 AND WED, MAR 31 AT 7 P.M. IN THE A-LECTURE HALL.  PARENTS MUST ATTEND JUST ONE OF THESE TWO MEETINGS.  PLEASE PICK UP A FLYER IN THE FRONT OFFICE, OR SEE MS. SOTO, Room G228 or [email protected]

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO ERIKY MOON!  He participated in the Letters About Literature program and wrote a letter to the author of a book.  He placed in the top 200 in California and the top 70 in the high school group.  Please congratulate him for doing so well.
