GENERAL

 

MATH TUTORING:  Thursday......Lunch math tutoring is canceled today.

 

HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS:  Today at lunch the DJ from KIIS FM will be here!!  Come out at lunch to the Outdoor Stage and have an awesome lunch!!

 

ACADEMY OF THE CANYONS:  Get on the fast track to college!  You can make a change and be a part of a unique, rewarding high school experience!  If you would like to learn more about Academy of the Canyons Middle College High School, you and your parents are invited to attend an information meeting tonight at Valencia High Theater at 7:00 p.m.  Applications will be distributed at the meeting.

 

SUMMER SCHOOL FORMS:  Summer school forms have arrived and are available in the Front Office by Mrs. Ruppert.  You may come by before or after school, or during brunch or lunch to pick up the forms.  Priority registration will be given to students who return their forms to the Counseling Office by June 3, 2010.  Parent signatures are required on all forms.

 

ROP CLASSES AUG 2010:  ANY STUDENT WHO WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR AN ROP CLASS STARTING IN THE FALL OF 2010 NEEDS TO GO SEE MRS. OKRONICK NOW

 

STUDENTS & FACULTY:   Book Fair is coming to Canyon High.  It will be here during the week of March 15-19.  It will be held in H1 and open during brunch and lunch. There will be a variety of books for everyone in the family.  Come and check it out and participate in the contest to identify the number of pretzels in the container.  A prize will be given to the student who comes closest. 

 

REVELUTION PREP SAT CLASSES-- Juniors!  Does the thought of the SAT keep you up at night? Do you have nightmares about writing an essay in just 25 minutes?  Lucky for you, Revolution Prep is offering an SAT class right here on campus with your very own Ms. Jones.  Don't have the cash?  Revolution offers scholarships to deserving students too.  Classes start this weekend, so sign up at revolutionprep.com today or visit Ms. Jones in E5 for more information. 

 

YES-YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: A program run by the City of Santa Clarita have summer jobs available for youth. Age 14-18. The program is open for students in Special Education, from Low-Income households or considered at-risk. Pick up application from Mrs. Rincon in G-124.

 

AP EXAM REGISTRATION has started and runs through March 12th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $86, unless the student participate in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Haro in the AP office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!  NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

 

PROM PAPERWORK is now available outside of the ASB office.  Tickets go on sale to Senior Fun Pack holders on Wed. March 10th.  Everyone else can buy tickets on Monday, March 15th.

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

SEARCH FOR EXCEPTIONAL TALENT AT CAL STATE L.A.  SEAA is a Talent Search designed to identify and help gifted  students between the ages of 11 - 15.  Students who are chosen to participate could have many benefits such as the Early Entrance Program at Cal State LA.  Application information is available in the Career Center.

 

SUMMER PROGRAMS AT UCSB:  Applications are now being accepted for the UCSB Summer Sessions Research Mentorship Program.  Highly motivated students in grades 10 - 12 may apply.  Application information is available in the Career Center.

 

CAL DAY:  Students are parents are invited to Cal Day at the University of California, Berkeley on Saturday, April 17 from 9 - 4.  Attend lectures, take a campus tour, visit a lab and more!  Register at Calday.Berkeley.edu or stop by the Career Center for more information.

 

MEETINGS

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  There's a mandatory meeting today at lunch in D2.  Don't be late!  We also have the last SHH event of the year today at 3 in D1.  ¡Hasta pronto!

 

YOUNG POLITICIANS: Today during lunch the Young Politicians will meet in room A-6.  This meeting is open to everyone.  Remember, today, Young Politicians in A-6, at lunch.

 

BIBLE STUDY:  Is meeting today in the Choir Room at lunch.

 

STUDENT TASK FORCE:  Is meeting today at lunch in room G-201.

 

SPORTS

 

TENNIS:  Varsity @ home @ 3:15.

 

VOLLEYBALL:  Varsity @ 5:15, JV & Frosh @ 4:00 –All games at home.

SENIORS

 

SENIOR STARS:  If you have been accepted to a 4-year college or university and plan on attending that school in the fall, please see Mrs. Hettema in the counseling office.  We will make a star in your honor and place it on the Senior Stars bulletin board in the display case outside of our office.  Also, if you have received notice of an: scholarships or awards, please let Mrs. Hettema know.
