GENERAL

 

CIF BOYS BASKETBALL GAME will be played at Canyon High School in Anaheim tonight—game time is 7:00.  There is a charge for the basketball games.   Students with student ID cost is $5, Children under the age of 13 the cost is $5.00. Cost for everyone else is $8.  Tickets are on sale in the ASB Office.

 

WINTER FORMAL PICTURES:  Are available to pick up in the ASB Office.

 

PROM paperwork will be available outside of the ASB office starting Monday.

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS & FACULTY:  We have several new books in the library.  Here are some of them:  Raven Summer by David Almond, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, How to Say Goodbye to a Robot by Natalie Standiford, and Winter's End by Jean-Claude Mourlevat.  Come in and check them out.

 

DIVE, DUCK,DODGE!  Dodge Ball sign ups are taking place in C-5 at both brunches and at lunch. Get your team together and sign up this week in C-5!

 

BOOK CLUB:  Book Club will meet to finish discussing Have a Little Faith today at lunch in H1.  We will decide on our next book.  If you'd like to join Book Club, now is a good time to join.

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  Students PLEASE DO NOT call or text your parents from a classroom or on campus to tell them you don’t feel well.  GET A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER TO GO TO THE HEALTH OFFICE.  Mrs. Schwamb will call your parents from the Health Office.

 

CSF MEMBERS: The list of this semester's members is currently posted outside of room C8.  If your name is on the list and you would like a membership card, come to C8-- AT LUNCH ONLY-- Thursday or Friday of this week.  We will be taking the club photo at the beginning of lunch on Friday as well.

 

MR. CANYON: The date of the annual Mr. Canyon pageant had been changed to Monday,

February 22 at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $4 presale and $5 at the door.  Come out and see your Senior boys strut their stuff for the title of Mr. Canyon!!

 

THE STUDENT TASK FORCE is hosting an essay, art, and video contest to raise awareness about children's rights violations.  Please submit all entries to the main office by February 22nd at 9 am

 

SUMMER MELTDOWN FUNDRAISER AT MOUNTASIA TODAY.  For just $19.99 get unlimited 3-hour play on all go-karts, bumper boats, laser tag, mini golf, rock wall, and regular video games.  Choose your 3-hour block anywhere from 3-11 pm. 

 

 

 

CANYON’S VERY TALENTED DANCE TEAM will be competing at a USA Regional competition at Saugus High School on Saturday. The dance team's first competition starts at noon, and approximately every hour 'til their last competition at 5 p.m. Cost is $8.  We'd love to have your support as we qualify for Nationals at this local competition!

**  Anyone interested in trying out for the 2010-11 dance team, should see Ms. Soto (G228) soon!

 

MOCK SAT -- are you planning to take the SAT?  Guess what- there's a mock SAT test hosted by the AVID program on February 20th at 9 am in E5.  The test is only $20 and all proceeds go to the AVID program.  You'll receive a customized score report and help from the Revolution Prep team.  To sign up, just go to Revolutionprep.com or stop by to see Ms. Jones in E5. 

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

COLORADO STATE INFORMATION MEETING:  Learn about Colorado State University at Information Meetings scheduled for Sat., 2/27 in Glendale and Sun., 2/28 in Irvine.  Admissions representatives will discuss academic programs, financial aid, scholarship opportunities, housing and student life.  Stop by the Career Center for reservation information.

 

MEETINGS

 

BOYS GOLF MEETING: There will be a mandatory meeting of the boys golf team, this Monday February 22 at 2:30 at Vista Valencia golf course in the clubhouse. THIS IS A MANDATORY MEETING, all players must attend if they wish to remain on the team. Do NOT be late. If you are missing paperwork, or still need to turn in spirit packs, please see Coach Lee ASAP.

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB will meet today in room G-117 at lunch.

 

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY MEETING on Thursday Feb. 25th in room T4. We are taking the club picture! All members must attend.
