GENERAL

 

CIF PLAYOFF GAMES:    Since this is CIF playoffs—there is a charge for the basketball games.  Students with ASB Card the ticket is $5, Children under the age of 13ticket is $5.00 Students without ASB card and all others the charge is $8.  Tickets are on sale in the ASB Office.

 

WINTER FORMAL PICTURES:  Are available to pick up in the ASB Office.

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  Students PLEASE DO NOT call or text your parents from a classroom or on campus to tell them you don’t feel well.  GET A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER TO GO TO THE HEALTH OFFICE.  Mrs. Schwamb will call your parents from the Health Office.

 

CSF MEMBERS: The list of this semester's members is currently posted outside of room C8.  If your name is on the list and you would like a membership card, come to C8-- AT LUNCH ONLY-- Thursday or Friday of this week.  We will be taking the club photo at the beginning of lunch on Friday as well.

 

MR. CANYON: The date of the annual Mr. Canyon pageant had been changed to Wednesday,

February 22 at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $4 presale and $5 at the door.  Come out and see your Senior boys strut their stuff for the title of Mr. Canyon!!

 

THE STUDENT TASK FORCE is hosting an essay, art, and video contest to raise awareness about children's rights violations.  Please submit all entries to the main office by February 22nd at 9 am

 

SUMMER MELTDOWN FUNDRAISER AT MOUNTASIA THIS FRODAY.  For just $19.99 get unlimited 3-hour play on all go-karts, bumper boats, laser tag, mini golf, rock wall, and regular video games.  Choose your 3-hour block anywhere from 3-11 pm.

CANYON’S VERY TALENTED DANCE TEAM will be competing at a USA Regional competition at Saugus High School on Saturday.  Basically, they will compete starting at 1:15 and perform about every hour until 5 p.m.   Cost is $8.  We'd love to have your support as we qualify for Nationals at this local competition!

 

Anyone interested in trying out for the 2010-11 dance team, should see Ms. Soto (G228) soon!

 

MOCK SAT -- are you planning to take the SAT?  Guess what- there's a mock SAT test hosted by the AVID program on February 20th at 9 am in E5.  The test is only $20 and all proceeds go to the AVID program.  You'll receive a customized score report and help from the Revolution Prep team.  To sign up, just go to Revolutionprep.com or stop by to see Ms. Jones in E5. 

 

FOOD DRIVE UPDATE!!  Mrs. Craig’s 2nd period class is in the lead with the most cans.  START saving your cans and let’s stop her winning streak!!!

 

MATCHMAKER RESULTS ARE IN!!  You can pick up your results outside of ASB during brunch and lunch!  One result $3, two results $5 and all three results are $6.  Come and find out who you are compatible with. 

 

KEY CLUB has expanded the recycling program.  Help our planet by disposing of your recyclables in the bright yellow containers.

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

PSAT SCORES:  PSAT results are in and students may pick up their test scores in the Career Center!

 

CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS:  California State Summer School for the Arts (InnserSpark) will take place at Cal Arts from July 10 - August 6 and 520 students will be selected to participate.  InnerSpark provides a unique opportunity for talented teens to spend 4 weeks studying and working with artists, writers and performers of national stature.  Stop by the Career Center for application information.

 

MUSICIAN’S INSTITUTE VISITATION:  Meet with a representative from the Musician's Institute and learn about careers in the contemporary music industry on Fri., 2/19 at 11:30 in Room H1.  MI offers a variety of Bachelor and Certificate programs.  Pick up a permission slip in the Career Center.

 

ARCHITECTURE CAREER SEMINAR:  Are you interested in exploring a career in design?  Meet with an Architect on Wednesday, March 10 at 11:30 in Room H1 and learn about educational requirements, job duties, salary range and more!  You won't want to miss the stress test that will be performed on a building model!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

MEETINGS

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  REMEMBER there's a Spanish Honor Society meeting TODAY in D2 at lunch.  Don't be late!  You will be receiving your permission slip for our Spanish movie night.  Movie Night will be today at 6.  Remember your signed permission slip is your ticket to the movie.  ¡Hasta pronto!

 

BIBLE STUDY:  Is meeting in the Choir Room at lunch today. 

 

FEBRUARY 15TH – 19TH IS JUVENILE JUSTICE WEEK.  The number "227" is feature on post-its around campus.  It represents the number of incarcerated youths in California who have been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.  If you would like to learn more, please attend the Student Task Force meeting TODAY at lunch in room G-201.

 

 

Locker Check

 

Attention all PE and Athletic Ladies.  Mrs. Scott and Ms. Krumrich will be checking the lockers FRIDAY February 19th to be sure that EVERYONE is using their assigned locker.

 

WHY YOU ASK?

 

For the safety, security, and comfort of you and your belongings.  The following will happen to all items that are in lockers that are NOT assigned:

 

1.       A locker contents slip will be completed

2.     Items will be removed and put into a bag

3.     Bag will be marked with the locker number from which it came.

4.     All items, lock (if there is one), and contents slip will be in the bag.

5.     Bags will be secured in the Girl’s PE office.

6.     If this happens to you, please see one of the PE teachers in the office during your PE or athletic period.

ATHLETES!  If you have not yet recorded the locker you chose for athletics this semester with Mrs. Scott or Ms. Krumrich, please do so by TODAY.
