GENERAL

TUTORING TUESDAYS is happening this week in the library.  Come to the library after school on Tuesday and get help in all your subjects.  Math, English, Econ, Spanish, and Social Studies help is available.  Hang out with your friends, study, use the computers, and improve your grades.  We'll see you Tuesday in the library after school.

HEALTH OFFICE:  Students PLEASE DO NOT call or text your parents from a classroom or on campus to tell them you don’t feel well.  GET A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER TO GO TO THE HEALTH OFFICE.  Mrs. Schwamb will call your parents from the Health Office.

MOCK SAT -- are you planning to take the SAT?  Guess what- there's a mock SAT test hosted by the AVID program on February 20th at 9 am in E5.  The test is only $20 and all proceeds go to the AVID program.  You'll receive a customized score report and help from the Revolution Prep team.  To sign up, just go to Revolutionprep.com or stop by to see Ms. Jones in E5. 

OPERARION US: On Friday February 19 we will be presenting at Mitchell Elementary School.  If you would like to attend please come to our next meeting on Wednesday February 17th at lunch in E3.  If you need permission slips please see Ms. Mast or Mr. Ballard anytime before the meeting. Operation US members, see you Wednesday at lunch!

FOOD DRIVE UPDATE!!  Mrs. Craig’s 2^nd period class is in the lead with the most cans.  START saving your cans and let’s stop her winning streak!!!

MATCHMAKER RESULTS ARE IN!!  You can pick up your results outside of ASB during brunch and lunch!  One result $3, two results $5 and all three results are $6.  Come and find out who you are compatible with. 

KEY CLUB has expanded the recycling program.  Help our planet by disposing of your recyclables in the bright yellow containers.

AN EVENING OF THE ARTS:  A multimedia experience to raise eating disorder awareness.  Saturday, February 20, 4:00-8:00 p.m. Beverly Hills Country Club.  www.laedpsocal.com

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  Remember to pick up your permission slip in the library for one or both of the Overcome, Believe & Achieve seminars.  The first seminar is Wednesday, Feb. 17 when Superior Court Judge Freixes comes to speak.  She is interesting and funny. The second seminar will be Thursday, Feb. 25 (3rd period) with Mr. Castellanos and Justin Wilson.   See Mrs. Limbaugh in the library for a permission slip.

MR. CANYON: The date of the annual Mr. Canyon pageant had been changed to Wednesday,

February 17 at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $4 presale and $5 at the door.  Come out and see your Senior boys strut their stuff for the title of Mr. Canyon!!

CAREER CENTER NEWS

FIRE FIGHTER AND EMR CAREER SEMINAR:  A Fire Fighter and EMR Career Seminar has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 2 at 9:20 in the Library.  Explore a career in this exciting field and learn about educational requirements, job duties and more!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

SENIORS:  Now is the time to get serious about your scholarship applications.  There are thousands of dollars waiting to be claimed.  There are over 100 scholarships on the Canyon website that are due in February and March.  Please go to the home page and click on Scholarship information on the right hand side.  All the links are listed for you.  Don't miss out on the opportunity of free money for college!!

Locker Check

Attention all PE and Athletic Ladies.  Mrs. Scott and Ms. Krumrich will be checking the lockers next FRIDAY February 19^th to be sure that EVERYONE is using their assigned locker.

WHY YOU ASK?

For the safety, security, and comfort of you and your belongings.  The following will happen to all items that are in lockers that are NOT assigned:

1.       A locker contents slip will be completed

2.     Items will be removed and put into a bag

3.     Bag will be marked with the locker number from which it came.

4.     All items, lock (if there is one), and contents slip will be in the bag.

5.     Bags will be secured in the Girl’s PE office.

6.     If this happens to you, please see one of the PE teachers in the office during your PE or athletic period.

ATHLETES!  If you have not yet recorded the locker you chose for athletics this semester with Mrs. Scott or Ms. Krumrich, please do so by THURSDAY February 18^th.
