GENERAL
ATTENTION STUDENTS: All students must carry a current Canyon High School photo ID while on campus. In the event that you do not have an ID, please visit the text book center immediately. All students found on campus without an ID after Feb. 12 will be required to serve lunch detention. If you are experiencing a financial hardship and unable to purchase a new ID, please contact your assigned Assistant Principal.
CONGRATULATIONS CANYON DANCE TEAM!! They attended their first competition of the season at Hemet High School on Saturday and placed in all categories! 3rd place in Jazz; 2nd place in Small Lyrical; and 1st place in the three categories of Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Novelty/Prop. Julie Alba placed 1st for her solo performance, Vanessa Polanco placed 3rd in solo and Madison Schaeffer placed 4th in solo!!!! Nice job ladies, we're proud of you!
TUTORING TUESDAYS is happening this week in the library. Come to the library after school on Tuesday and get help in all your subjects. Math, English, Econ, Spanish, and Social Studies help is available. Hang out with your friends, study, use the computers, and improve your grades. We'll see you Tuesday in the library after school.
FOOD DRIVE UPDATE!! Mrs. Craig’s 2nd period class is in the lead with the most cans. START saving your cans and let’s stop her winning streak!!!

MR. CANYON: The date of the annual Mr. Canyon pageant had been changed to Wednesday,
February 17 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $4 presale and $5 at the door. Come out and see your Senior boys strut their stuff for the title of Mr. Canyon!!
Free SAT Prep Class: Canyon will host a Free SAT Prep Class on Thursday nights for 6 weeks beginning March 18th. Only cost = $75 for materials. 11th graders taking the May or June SAT test should take advantage of this opportunity! Pick up an informational flyer in the Counseling and AP Offices to register before March 8th.
NHS is sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, February 11th from 7:30-1:30. Pick up information in G-105. Don't be a drip, DONATE BLOOD!
VAL-O-GRAMS: Today is the last day to order!! Looking for the perfect gift to give that perfect someone on campus? Then a Val-O-Gram is the way to go! They are only $7 for a flower, balloon, lollipop, card and serenade of LOVE! Make this season of love one to remember!
CAREER CENTER NEWS
CAL DAY: Students are parents are invited to Cal Day at the University of California, Berkeley on Saturday, April 17 from 9 - 4. Attend lectures, take a campus tour, visit a lab and more! Register at Calday.Berkeley.edu or stop by the Career Center for more information.
MUSICIAN’S INSTITUTE VISITATION: Meet with a representative from the Musician's Institute and learn about careers in the contemporary music industry on Fri., 2/19 at 11:30 in Room H1. MI offers a variety of Bachelor and Certificate programs. Pick up a permission slip in the Career Center.

KEY CLUB: There is a general meeting TODAY in the Auxiliary Gym. Bring your shirts.
THERE IS A NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEETING for current members on February 10th. Members must make valentines either on the 9th or 10th at lunch. Prospective members who receive notification letters and wish to join NHS must attend a meeting on February 9th or 17th. Please come to room G-105 at lunch.

SENIORS
DIPLOMA NAME LIST: All seniors need to check the diploma name list posted in the display case outside the Counseling Office to make sure that their name is spelled correctly and that it is their legal name. If you find an error, please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office as soon as possible so that a correction can be made. Otherwise, your name will appear on your diploma as it is written on this list. All changes and corrections need to be made by 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Copies of birth certificates are required for all changes!
SENIORS- It’s scholarship time!!! If you have at least a 2.0 total GPA and you have attended Canyon for both 11th & 12th grades, you are eligible to apply for SCV Scholarship Foundation’s Scholarships. Go to www.scvsf.org OR visit Canyon’s website to download the application. THOUSAND$ will be awarded to Canyon seniors, but you MUST apply! Applications are due to Ms. Atkin in the Counseling Office by Feb 11th.
