GENERAL
TUTORING TUESDAYS is happening this week in the library. Come to the library after school on Tuesday and get help in all your subjects. Math, English, Econ, Spanish, and Social Studies help is available. Hang out with your friends, study, use the computers, and improve your grades. We'll see you Tuesday in the library after school.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Parking spots available $10 please pick up the paperwork outside the ASB office. First come first serve.
WRITER’S WORKSHOP: Mr. Fannon is running his Writer's Workshop again this semester. If you need help with writing in any of your classes, come see Mr. Fannon for help. Help is available every morning before school from 6:20 to 7am, and at lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
VAL-O-GRAMS: Looking for the perfect gift to give that perfect someone on campus? Then a Val-O-Gram is the way to go! They are only $7 for a flower, balloon, lollipop, card and serenade of LOVE! They are now on sale through February 9th and can be purchased from any choir student. Make this season of love one to remember!
FOOD DRIVE: It is that time for the annual food drive for “Help the Children.” Bring in canned goods to your second period class. The class that brings in the most canned goods wins a prize! Bring in the cans up until February 26. Boxes will be passed out!
ATTENTION STUDENTS: The library is presenting a two part seminar entitled Overcome, Believe & Achieve! We will be hosting Superior Court Judge Freixes on Wednesday, Feb. 17 period 4 and Mr. Castellanos, our superintendent, and our own Justin Wilson on Thursday, Feb. 25 period 3. They will discuss obstacles that they have overcome in their lives to achieve their goals. Pick up permission slips in the library for either one of the days or both.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, located at 22900 Market St, Newhall, phone: (661)259-9444. They are looking for help with filing, data entry, copying. Ask for Karla or Robin.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS- Are you interested in being an Executive Officer or Class Officer for the 2010-2011 school year. If you are please come to a mandatory meeting at 7pm in J-1 TODAY or Tuesday February 2nd. All election material will be dispersed at these meetings.
MR CANYON AUCTION: The Mr. Canyon auction will be held Tuesday, February 2 on the Outdoor Stage. Come out and bid to win a date with one of the divine Mr. Canyon contenders. Good Luck!
COME OUT AND SUPPORT the Canyon boy’s soccer teams. Come to Baja Fresh on Feb. 2nd between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00 pm. All three soccer teams are in first place! Hope to see you there.

KEY CLUB is looking for volunteers to help with the recycling program. If you would like to sign up, please go to Mr. Lee's room, V-1.
THE STUDENT TASK FORCE is hosting an essay, art, and video contest to raise awareness about children's rights violations. Please submit all entries to the main office by February 22nd at 9 am.
MATCH MAKER: If you didn’t fill out a Match Maker come out in front of ASB duing both brunches and lunch until Friday, January 29. It’s free and will only take 5 minutes.

SENIORS
SENIORS- It’s scholarship time!!! If you have at least a 2.0 total GPA and you have attended Canyon for both 11th & 12th grades, you are eligible to apply for SCV Scholarship Foundation’s Scholarships. Go to www.scvsf.org OR visit Canyon’s website to download the application. THOUSAND$ will be awarded to Canyon seniors, but you MUST apply! Applications are due to Ms. Atkin in the Counseling Office by Feb 11th.
SENIORS: Now is the time to get serious about your scholarship applications. There are thousands of dollars waiting to be claimed. There are over 100 scholarships on the Canyon website that are due in February and March. Please go to the home page and click on Scholarship information on the right hand side. All the links are listed for you. Don't miss out on the opportunity of free money for college!!
SENIORS: Miss Atkin in the counseling office has an application for an $800 scholarship. The Emblem Club wants to give this scholarship to a student in the Santa Clarita Valley. The Scholarship is due February 15th so see Miss Atkin ASAP.
