GENERAL
SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRESS REPORTS: If you would like to receive a supplemental progress report, please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office between 7:30am and 8:00am Friday morning to pick one up. If you have a 7:00am class, you may pick one up today after your last class.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, located at 22900 Market St, Newhall, phone: (661)259-9444. They are looking for help with filing, data entry, copying. Ask for Karla or Robin.
THIS FRIDAY, both Panda Express and Menchies on Sierra Hwy will sponsor Canyon Cheer with your purchase!! Enjoy lunch or pre-game dinner at Panda from 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m., and follow-up with dessert or an after-game treat at Menchies from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.!!! The cheerleaders appreciate your support! Go Cowboys!!
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS- Are you interested in being an Executive Officer or Class Officer for the 2010-2011 school year. If you are please come to a mandatory meeting at 7pm in J-1 either Monday February 1st or Tuesday February 2nd. All election material will be dispersed at these meetings.
VAL-O-GRAMS: Are you wondering what to get your best friend or that special someone this Valentines Day? We’ve got the solution!! Choir is selling Val-O-Grams, starting Monday, February 1! They are only $7 and include a balloon, lollipop, card and song. You can purchase a Val-O-Gram through any choir student. Don’t miss out!!!!
MR CANYON AUCTION: The Mr. Canyon auction will be held Tuesday, February 2 on the Outdoor Stage. Come out and bid to win a date with one of the divine Mr. Canyon contenders. Good Luck!

HAITI SHOE DRIVE: Boy Scouts are having a shoe drive for the people in Haiti. If you have any Shoes to donate they must have no holes and be in good condition. All sizes are needed, small children, teens and adults. Please drop them off at the Main Office in the box provided. If you have any questions, please contact Andrew Nielson. The deadline for turning in shoes is Friday, January 29.
KEY CLUB is looking for volunteers to help with the recycling program. If you would like to sign up, please go to Mr. Lee's room, V-1.
THE STUDENT TASK FORCE is hosting an essay, art, and video contest to raise awareness about children's rights violations. Please submit all entries to the main office by February 22nd at 9 am.
ATTENTION SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY! Spanish Honor Society members, if you have a problem with the amount of events you have, or if you cannot attend the events necessary to complete your event sheet, please come to D-1 TODAY! TODAY is the only day that we will be available to talk to you.
MATCH MAKER: If you didn’t fill out a Match Maker come out in front of ASB duing both brunches and lunch until Friday, January 29. It’s free and will only take 5 minutes.
KEY CLUB OFFICER ELECTIONS: Hey Key Clubbers!! Officer elections are around the corner!! If you would like to run for a position, then please go to V-1 by Friday, January 29.
CSF - Applications for this semester's membership are to be handed in to room C8 by the end of lunch, Friday, 1/29. CSF matters will not be handled during any time of the day except lunch. Remember that your application form, copy of your report card or transcript, volunteer-hours form (freshmen excluded), and dues are to be submitted as one set. Applications are not to be placed in Ms. Freifeld's mailbox; they must be given directly to Ms. Freifeld or to a CSF officer so that you can receive verification that you handed them in.
CAREER CENTER NEWS
FIDM FASHION SHOW: Students are invited to attend the FIDM 2010 Fashion Show on Friday, March 12 at 5:00. The show will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and students must provide their own transportation. Pick up reservation information in the Career Center.
MEETINGS
NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY is meeting TODAY at lunch in room T4. All members must attend.
GOLF MEETING A mandatory meeting for ALL CHS golfers will be held TODAY at lunch in E1. Golf schedules and phone lists will be discussed. Please be on time. Bring your lunch.
STUDENT TASK FORCE: Is meeting at lunch TODAY in room G-201.
BIBLE STUDY: Meets TODAY at lunch in the Choir Room.
YOUNG POLITICIANS: There will be a lunch-time meeting of the Young Politicians Club today, in A-6. If you are a member of this club you must attend today so that you can receive information about graduation ceremonies and sash presentations. So, all Young Politician, please come to A-6 today, at lunch, to receive this important information.
SENIORS
SENIORS: Miss Atkin in the counseling office has an application for an $800 scholarship. The Emblem Club wants to give this scholarship to a student in the Santa Clarita Valley. The Scholarship is due February 15th so see Miss Atkin ASAP.
SENIORS- IT’S SCHOLARSHIP TIME!!! If you have at least a 2.0 total GPA and you have attended Canyon for both 11th & 12th grades, you are eligible to apply for SCV Scholarship Foundation’s Scholarships. Go to www.scvsf.org OR visit Canyon’s website to download the application. THOUSAND$ will be awarded to Canyon seniors, but you MUST apply! Applications are due to Ms. Atkin in the Counseling Office by Feb 11th.
SENIORS: Now is the time to get serious about your scholarship applications. There are thousands of dollars waiting to be claimed. There are over 100 scholarships on the Canyon website that are due in February and March. Please go to the home page and click on Scholarship information on the right hand side. All the links are listed for you. Don't miss out on the opportunity of free money for college!!
U.S. FOREST SERVICE CAREER FAIR: Attention Seniors: The U.S. Forest Service will hold a Career Fair on Sat., Feb. 6 from 10 - 4. Learn about employment opportunities such as firefighter, law enforcement, recreation specialists and more! Stop by the Career Center for a flyer.
