GENERAL

 

HAITI SHOE DRIVE:  Boy Scouts are having a shoe drive for the people in Haiti.  If you have any Shoes to donate they must have no holes and be in good condition.  All sizes are needed, small children, teens and adults.  Please drop them off at the Main Office in the box provided.  If you have any questions, please contact Andrew Nielson.  The deadline for turning in shoes is Friday, January 29.

 

OPERATION US: Completed permission slips are due to Ms. Mast in E3!  Our first presentation at Mitchell is this Friday. Please return you permission slips A.S.A.P.!

 

TUTORING TUESDAYS is happening this week in the library.  Come to the library after school on Tuesday and get help in all your subjects.  Math, English, Econ, Spanish, and Social Studies help is available.  Hang out with your friends, study, use the computers, and improve your grades.  We'll see you Tuesday in the library after school.

 

KEY CLUB is looking for volunteers to help with the recycling program.  If you would like to sign up, please go to Mr. Lee's room, V-1. 

 

THE STUDENT TASK FORCE is hosting an essay, art, and video contest to raise awareness about children's rights violations.  Please submit all entries to the main office by February 22nd at 9 am.

 

ATTENTION SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY!  Spanish Honor Society members, if you have a problem with the amount of events you have, or if you cannot attend the events necessary to complete your event sheet, please come to D-1 this Thursday!  Thursday is the only day that we will be available to talk to you.    Thank you..

 

MATCH MAKER:  If you didn’t fill out a Match Maker come out in front of ASB duing both brunches and lunch until Friday, January 29.  It’s free and will only take 5 minutes.

 

ALL STUDENTS that have an open period or an athletics/ROTC/extracurricular activity will need their ID to reflect this.  These are new instructions to process your ID.

Please go to the Assistant Principals Office:

1.       Students that have their schedule may get an open sticker instantly as time permits.

2.       Students who do not have their schedule can drop their ID off at the table at brunch.  The first 150 turned in will be processed and ready for pick up at that same table during lunch.

3.       If you have an athletics or extracurricular activity, you must present your completed Release from Athletic P.E./Extra Curricular Activities form that you received from your coach or teacher to receive your sticker.

 

KEY CLUB OFFICER ELECTIONS:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  Officer elections are around the corner!!  If you would like to run for a position, then please go to V-1 by Friday, January 29.

 

CSF - Applications for this semester's membership are to be handed in to room C8 by the end of lunch, Friday, 1/29. CSF matters will not be handled during any time of the day except lunch.  Remember that your application form, copy of your report card or transcript, volunteer-hours form (freshmen excluded), and dues are to be submitted as one set.  Applications are not to be placed in Ms. Freifeld's mailbox; they must be given directly to Ms. Freifeld or to a CSF officer so that you can receive verification that you handed them in.

 

PROM FASHION SHOW:  The Prom Fashion Show is right around the corner.  If you would like to participate in the show, pick up an application today through January 28 outside the ASB Office.  Juniors and Seniors ONLY!!  First come, first served!

 

MEETINGS

 

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY is meeting this Thursday at lunch in room T4. All members must attend.

 

GOLF MEETING A mandatory meeting for ALL CHS golfers will be held Thursday January 28th at lunch in E1.  Golf schedules and phone lists will be discussed. Please be on time. Bring your lunch.

BOYS BASKETBALL:  Varsity and JV @ home.  Varsity @ 6:30, JV @ 3:30.

Frosh @ West Ranch @ 3:30

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Varsity @ home @ 5:00.  JV & Frosh @ West Ranch.  JV @ 6:30, Frosh @ 5:00

 

BOYS SOCCER: Varisty & JV at home.  Varsity @ 4:45, JV @ 3:15.  Frosh @ Sierra Vista JHS @ 3:15

 

GIRLS SOCCER:  At West Ranch.  Varsity, JV & Frosh @ 3:15.

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS- It’s scholarship time!!! If you have at least a 2.0 total GPA and you have attended Canyon for both 11th & 12th grades, you are eligible to apply for SCV Scholarship Foundation’s Scholarships. Go to www.scvsf.org OR visit Canyon’s website to download the application. THOUSAND$ will be awarded to Canyon seniors, but you MUST apply! Applications are due to Ms. Atkin in the Counseling Office by

Feb 11th.
