GENERAL

 

HAITI SHOE DRIVE:  Boy Scouts are having a shoe drive for the people in Haiti.  If you have any Shoes to donate they must have no holes and be in good condition.  All sizes are needed, small children, teens and adults.  Please drop them off at the Main Office in the box provided.  If you have any questions, please contact Andrew Nielson.  The deadline for turning in shoes is Friday, January 29.

 

TUTORING TUESDAYS is happening this week in the library.  Come to the library after school on Tuesday and get help in all your subjects.  Math, English, Econ, Spanish, and Social Studies help is available.  Hang out with your friends, study, use the computers, and improve your grades.  We'll see you Tuesday in the library after school.

 

ALL STUDENTS that have an open period or an athletics/ROTC/extracurricular activity will need their ID to reflect this.  These are new instructions to process your ID.

Please go to the Assistant Principals Office:

1.       Students that have their schedule may get an open sticker instantly as time permits.

2.       Students who do not have their schedule can drop their ID off at the table at brunch.  The first 150 turned in will be processed and ready for pick up at that same table during lunch.

3.       If you have an athletics or extracurricular activity, you must present your completed Release from Athletic P.E./Extra Curricular Activities form that you received from your coach or teacher to receive your sticker.

 

CSF - Applications for this semester's membership are to be handed in to room C8 by the end of lunch, Friday, 1/29. CSF matters will not be handled during any time of the day except lunch.  Remember that your application form, copy of your report card or transcript, volunteer-hours form (freshmen excluded), and dues are to be submitted as one set.  Applications are not to be placed in Ms. Freifeld's mailbox; they must be given directly to Ms. Freifeld or to a CSF officer so that you can receive verification that you handed them in.

 

KEY CLUB OFFICER ELECTIONS:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  Officer elections are around the corner!!  If you would like to run for a position, then please go to V-1 by Friday, January 29.

 

PROM FASHION SHOW:  The Prom Fashion Show is right around the corner.  If you would like to participate in the show, pick up an application today through January 28 outside the ASB Office.  Juniors and Seniors ONLY!!  First come, first served!

 

 

 

 

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

U.S. SECRET SERVICE CAREER SEMINAR:  Would you like to find out what it is like to guard the President?  Explore a career as a U.S. Secret Service Agent on Thurs., 1/28 at 10:30 in the Library.  Learn about educational requirements, job duties and more!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

CHARTER COLLEGE VISITATION:  Charter College, located on Sierra Highway, offers the following programs:  Meet with an admissions representative from Charter College, located on Sierra Highway, and learn about programs such as Medical Assistant, Legal Assistant, Vocational Nurse, Computer Accounting Specialist and more!  The meeting will take place on Tues., 1/26 at 11:30 in room H1.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

MEETINGS

 

GOLF MEETING A mandatory meeting for ALL CHS golfers will be held Thursday January 28th at lunch in E1.  Golf schedules and phone lists will be discussed. Please be on time. Bring your lunch.

 

HELPING OUR TEENS-  Come be part of the HOTtest club on campus- the HOT club helps less fortunate students at Canyon and throughout the district.  We meet TODAY in E5 at lunch.  Everyone is welcome, so stop by and start the New Year off by helping those around you!
