GENERAL
ALL STUDENTS that have an open period or an athletics/ROTC/extracurricular activity will need their ID to reflect this. These are new instructions to process your ID.
Please go to the Assistant Principals Office:
1. Students that have their schedule may get an open sticker instantly as time permits.
2. Students who do not have their schedule can drop their ID off at the table at brunch. The first 150 turned in will be processed and ready for pick up at that same table during lunch.
3. If you have an athletics or extracurricular activity, you must present your completed Release from Athletic P.E./Extra Curricular Activities form that you received from your coach or teacher to receive your sticker.
WINTER FORMAL: Are you ready for a NIGHT IN PARIS? Then ask that special someone to Winter Formal. It will take place Saturday, January 30. Tickets are on sale until Friday, January 22, and are $70 per couple. Guest passes are still available until the 22nd.
ATTENTION STUDENTS!! It's time for the 2010 Lion's Club Speech Contest. This year's topic is:
"Universal Healthcare - How will it affect us?" Your speech must be between 5-10 minutes in length and address the topic. The school contest will be held during the week of February 1 after school. See Mrs. Limbaugh in the library if you are interested in participating to sign up.
ROP CLASSES: MANY ROP CLASSES STILL ARE STILL OPENED. EVEN SOME THAT WERE CLOSED BEFORE HAVE ROOM. GO SEE MRS. OKRONICK ASAP TO FIND OUT WHICH CLASSES YOU CAN STILL ENROLL IN.
PROM FASHION SHOW: The Prom Fashion Show is right around the corner. If you would like to participate in the show, pick up an application today through January 28 outside the ASB Office. Juniors and Seniors ONLY!! First come, first served!
BE WATER WOSE, JOIN THE CLUB: Did you know that our water supply is diminishing by the hour? Well, a group of Canyon students have entered the Castaic Lake Water Agency Competition, and are called "Carpe Flux". They are a group dedicated to improving the water supply here in Santa Clarita. Check out their cool website at: www.scwater.webs.com to find out more information about this issue. And while you're there, become a member and support this cause.
DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE KEEPING UP WITH DATES? Fret no more!! Mr. Canyon calendars are on sale now in the ASB Office!! They are $15 and feature your talented senior boys. Pick one up today.
CAREER CENTER NEWS
CHARTER COLLEGE VISITATION: Charter College, located on Sierra Highway, offers the following programs: Meet with an admissions representative from Charter College, located on Sierra Highway, and learn about programs such as Medical Assistant, Legal Assistant, Vocational Nurse, Computer Accounting Specialist and more! The meeting will take place on Tues., 1/26 at 11:30 in room H1. Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

NAHS MEETING this Wed. (1/20) at lunch in room T4. all members must attend!
Attention Spanish Honor Society members there is a mandatory meeting this Thursday at lunch in D2. Don't forget! ¡Hasta el jueves!
ANIME CLUB will be meeting today in room G-220.
STUDENT TASK FORCE: There is a Student Task Force meeting on Thursday at lunch in room G-201.
NEW CLUB: COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL: Hey Cowboys!! Want to start the New Year by helping a child in poverty? All you have to do is come to the very first meeting of the Compassion International Club. Further information will be given at the meeting on Friday, January 22, at lunch in Ms. Goodwin’s room, U-7. See you there!
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: There is a NHS meeting TODAY at lunch in room G-105.
SENIORS
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Students must give the counselors 7-10 days advance notice for letters of recommendations. Make sure you complete a request for a letter of recommendation form before you give your application to your counselor. (See Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office if you need a form).
