GENERAL
ALL STUDENTS: Counselors are busy working on the Petition to Adjust Schedule Forms. Counselors will send any NEW schedules to you in class. Some classes need to be balanced and other classes might be collapsing, so there are still a number of schedules that will change. We ask for your patience in this process as we have many changes to make. Tuesday was the last day for student initiated schedule requests.
TRACK TRYOUTS: Tryouts are being held all next week after school for any athlete interested. Meet at the track after school or talk to Mr. Delong or Mr. Jackson. A separate tryout will be held at the end of basketball and soccer season for winter sports athletes.
ROP CLASSES: MANY ROP CLASSES STILL ARE STILL OPENED. EVEN SOME THAT WERE CLOSED BEFORE HAVE ROOM. GO SEE MRS. OKRONICK ASAP TO FIND OUT WHICH CLASSES YOU CAN STILL ENROLL IN.
CSF APPLICANTS: Application forms will not be available until Wednesday, Jan. 19. That day, you may pick them up in room C8 at lunch only. No CSF business will be conducted at brunch, between classes, or after school. The completed application, copy of your December report card, volunteer hours sheet (freshmen excluded), and dues are due on the following Monday, Jan 25.
JAZZ/POP--Have you always wanted to show off your talent? On Thursday, there will be an informational meeting at brunch to let you know all about Jazz/Pop, a concert that features talented Canyon students, the choirs and the Jazz Ensemble. Don't miss out! Come to the choir room at brunch on Thursday, Jan. 14th.
PROM FASHION SHOW: The Prom Fashion Show is right around the corner. If you would like to participate in the show, pick up an application today through January 28 outside the ASB Office. Juniors and Seniors ONLY!! First come, first served!
FROSH VOLLEYBALL: Any freshman interested in joining the men's volleyball team go to B-4 at brunch or before school and see coach Ingino.
BE WATER WOSE, JOIN THE CLUB: Did you know that our water supply is diminishing by the hour? Well, a group of Canyon students have entered the Castaic Lake Water Agency Competition, and are called "Carpe Flux". They are a group dedicated to improving the water supply here in Santa Clarita. Check out their cool website at: www.scwater.webs.com to find out more information about this issue. And while you're there, become a member and support this cause.
ALL-STATE AND ALL-SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BAND AND ORCHESTRA: Congratulations to Tempest Lyle and Josh Derenski for being selected to participate in the All-Southern California Honor Groups. Also, Josh Derenski was selected for the very prestigious All-State Band! Congratulations and great work!

YES-YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES have jobs available for students age 14-18 in Special Education, from a Low-income family or At-risk youth. Pay is $8. Deadline to apply is January 18th. See Mrs. Rincon in room G-124 for more information and application.
YEARBOOK SALES: - This week is your last chance to guarantee yourself a yearbook in the spring. They are $80 and $85. If you don't buy one now you are gambling that we'll have extra copies for sale, and if we do you'll be paying more.
WINTER FORMAL: Are you ready for a Night in Paris? Then ask that special person to Winter Formal! Tickets are on sale now through Friday, January 22 in the ASB Office, before school, lunch and brunch. Tickets are $70 per couple.
STUDENTS: PLEASE DO NOT call or text your parents from a classroom or on campus to tell them you don’t feel well. GET A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER TO GO TO THE HEALTH OFFICE,

CAREER CENTER NEWS
CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS: California State Summer School for the Arts (InnserSpark) will take place at Cal Arts from July 10 - August 6 and 520 students will be selected to participate. InnerSpark provides a unique opportunity for talented teens to spend 4 weeks studying and working with artists, writers and performers of national stature. Stop by the Career Center for application information.
MEETINGS
STUDENT TASK FORCE: Is meeting today at lunch in room G-201.
BIBLE CLUB: Is meeting today at lunch in the Choir Room.
KEY CLUB: There is a general meeting in the Aux gym on January 19.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: There is a National Honor Society meeting on Wednesday, January 20th at lunch in room G-105.
OPERATION US: We have an upcoming presentation at Mitchell Elementary School. All Operation US students need to attend our next meeting this Friday January 15th at lunch in E3. If you can not attend the meeting please see Ms. Mast in E3 before Friday at lunch.
THE BOYS GOLF TEAM will hold their first team meeting Friday 1/15 in E-1 at 2:00. We will go over medical forms and the 2010 season schedule. Do not be late.
BOOK CLUB: We will be meeting on Friday, Jan. 15 at lunch in H1 to discuss Jodi Picoult's A Perfect Match. If you would like to join book club, now is a good time to join as we will be choosing a new book to read. Bring your lunch and we'll see you there.
