GENERAL

 

CANYON COWBOYS!!!  There is a HART RALLY on Friday, October 23 at brunch.  Come support your Football Teams and show us your school spirit!!  Everyone will be wearing their class colors ---so wear yours!!  Seniors wear black, Juniors white, Sophomores yellow, and Freshman green.  We hope to see you all there!!!! 

 

ATTENTION ALL SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY STUDENTS:  If you forgot your dues last week, they are being accepted Tuesday, October 20 only at lunch in D-1. 

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office. 

 

HELPING OUR TEENS-- Have you ever wanted to help your fellow Cowboys but never knew how?  Come to E5 today at lunch to join a new club on campus that's trying to help every student on Canyon's campus have a great high school experience.  We will discuss upcoming fundraisers and things we can do to help every student on campus participate in activities such as prom and graduation.  Come check it out- everyone is welcome!

 

ROP CLASSES STARTING JAN. 2010:  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING AN R.O.P. CLASS STARTING NEXT SEMESTER, YOU MUST SEE MRS. OKRONICK IN THE R.O.P. OFFICE.

 

KEY CLUB:  Fall Rally money is due Tuesday, October 20.  Please turn it in to V-1.

 

INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL sign ups are taking place in C-5. Get your team together and sign up in C-5 ASAP!

 

NEW BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY:  Come check out some of the new books in the library:  Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol,  Conn Iggulden's last book in the Genghis series Bones of the Hills, and Frances Hardinge's book The Lost Conspiracy.  You will find them on the New Book display.

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  Celebrate Teen Read Week's theme of Read Beyond Reality by coming to hear fantasy author Eldon Thomspon speak about his writing and scriptwriting on Tuesday, October 20 during 4th period.  Pick up a permission slip in the library.

 

 

 

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

CAL LUTHERAN VISITATION:  A representative from Cal Lutheran University, located in Thousand Oaks, will meet with students on Tuesday, October 20 at 9:20 in Room H1.  Learn about programs, financial aid and campus life.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

MEETINGS

 

NHS: There will be an NHS meeting on Wednesday, October 21, at lunch in G-105.

OPERATION US: We will be meeting in E3 at the start of lunch on Tuesday October 20 to collect permission slips and prepare for our upcoming Mint Canyon presentation.  If you can not attend, be sure to see Ms. Mast before Tuesday at lunch. 

 

SENIORS

 

SCHOLARSHIPS:  Coca Cola is giving out $10,000 and $20,000 scholarships.  If you had a 3.0 at the end of your senior year you are eligible.  The deadline to apply is October 31st.

*Are you skilled at writing essays?  The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education is giving out $5,000 scholarships for the best essays discussing the topic of free speech on campus.  The deadline is the 6th of November.

*Do you have a lot of volunteer and service hours?  Metro PCS is giving out $2,500 scholarships.  The deadline to apply is November 25.
