GENERAL

 

FORMER MAYOR BOB KELLER AT CANYON HIGH SCHOOL TODAY:  Today former mayor and current member of the Santa Clarita City Council Bob Keller will be visiting with students here at Canyon High School.  As past mayor of Santa Clarita Bob Keller is well informed on the issues our city and valley face.  Please join with the Young Politicians Club in welcoming this outstanding local leader to Canyon High, today in Room H-1 during lunch.  Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to ask appropriate questions.  See you at lunch in H-1.

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS......make sure to sign up TODAY in D-2 at lunch for your Cedar Creek service hour.  This is your only opportunity to do so!

 

OPERATION US: Permission slips for Tuesday's training day are due by this Friday October 2nd at 1pm.  Bring your completed permission slips to Ms. Mast in E3 or Mr. Ballard in A7.  Time is running out, please get your slips in A.S.A.P.!

 

PSAT STUDY GUIDES:  Attention sophomores and juniors:  Did you register to take the PSAT, which will take place on October 14?  PSAT Study guides are available for students who signed up!  Be sure to stop by the Counseling Office or Career Center to pick up a copy.

 

DID YOU TAKE THE CaHSEE EXAM IN JULY?  The results are in!  If you have not received your scores, you can see your counselor to get them.

 

DO YOU LOVE TO RIDE HORSES?  Are you a true Cowboy at heart?  Do you know what an "equestrian" is?  If so, come to our informational meeting Wed, 10/7 at lunchtime in H1 to get all the information on Canyon's Equestrian Club and meet our great new advisor!!!

 

HOMECOMING:  Are you ready for “A Heroic Night?”  Then come to the Homecoming Dance on October 10.  Tickets are now on sale!  $15 with an ASB Card, $17 without and $20 at the door.  We hope to see you all there!!

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  A brand new Nissan Versa will be awarded to a Hart District student who maintains outstanding attendance and academic performance this school year. 

Criteria for eligibility:

- 10th, 11th and 12th graders at the six Hart District comprehensive high schools

- 3.0 gpa

- 95% attendance rate since Oct. 7, 2009

- No out of school suspensions while enrolled in Hart District

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

UCLA VISITATION:  An admissions representative from UCLA will meet with juniors and seniors on Wed., 10/7 at 9:20 in Room H1.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

HAMILTON COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE:  Admissions representatives from Hamilton College will meet with prospective students and their parents on Sun., Oct. 4 from 7:00 - 8:30 in Santa Monica.  Stop by the Career Center for registration information.

 

DISCOVER DUKE PROGRAM:  Meet with an admissions representative from Duke University and learn about programs, financial aid and campus life at Duke.  The meeting will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 3:00 at the Pasadena Hilton.  Register at www.admissions.duke.edu or stop by the Career Center for details.

 

USC VISITATION:  Juniors and seniors are invited to meet with an admissions representative from USC on Fri., 10/9 at 11:35 in Room H1.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

MEETINGS

 

BIBLE CLUB meets in the Choir Room every Thursday at lunch.

 

STUDENT TASK FORCE is meeting in room G-201 at lunch.

 

KEY CLUB:  There is a general meeting on October 6 in the Auxiliary Gym at lunch.
