CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

 

GREEN AND GOLD NIGHT:  Are you ready to see all the hard work and dedication your Cowboys have put in so far this year??  Then come out to Green and Gold Night Saturday, August 29 at 5:30 p.m. to see your Varsity Football Team take on the JV Team,  Make sure you show your school spirit by wearing green and gold.  There will be face painting for $1.00, along with some fun halftime games and great prizes!  Also, tickets are free!!  See you there!!

 

JUNIOR HOMECOMING FLOAT:  Heads up Juniors, it’s time to get involved with your class!  We could really use your help making our Homecoming float great!  This Sunday, August 30 there is a meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m.   For more information ask any Junior Officer!!  Hope to see you there!

 

TEXTBOOK DAMAGE WAIVER FORMS are due by Friday, September 4.  Drop them off in the blue bins in the textbook center or library.

 

ADULT AND JUNIOR ASB CARDS:  Are now in and available to pick up in the ASB Office—before school, brunch and lunch. 

 

CSF:  CSF applications, volunteer forms, and dues are to be handed in to room C8 this week--Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday--at lunch only.  Make checks payable to Canyon ASB.  You may also pay in cash.

 

STUDENTS:  If you are enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program you are also eligible to receive a free breakfast.  Just go to the cafeteria before 8:00 and show your ID card.  Any questions see Mrs. Haro in the AP Office.

 

ALL STUDENTS that have an open period or an athletics/ROTC/extracurricular activity will need their ID to reflect this.  These are new instructions to process your ID.

Each BRUNCH please go to the table outside of the Counseling door.

 

  1. Those that have their schedule may get an open sticker instantly as time permits.
  2. Those who do not have their schedule, or can pick up their ID later, can drop their ID off at the table.  The first 150 turned in will be processed and ready for pick up at that same table during lunch.

You may drop off your ID DURING BRUNCH any day the entire week of August 24th through

August 28th.

IDs dropped off to any other person or place will NOT be processed, so please adhere to the above instructions.

 

 

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS!! Operation US will be beginning TODAY! Operation US is a community service group that trains Canyon students to go to elementary schools and put on a workshop about prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination.  We are seeking students to present and/ or work with small groups of sixth graders. We present and local elementary schools and maybe even the one you attended. Please join us for an informational meeting TODAY at lunch in E3.  If you have any questions please see Ms. Mast in E3 or Mr. Ballard in A7.  New and returning members are encouraged to attend.

 

CAREEER CENTER NEWS

 

SERVICE ACADEMY ORIENTATION:  Congressman Buck McKeon will host a Service Academy Orientation Program for interested students and their parents.  The program will take place in the Hart High cafeteria from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10.  Various aspects of application for appointment, nomination, selection and daily life at the Academies will be discussed.  Sample nomination applications are available in the Career Center.

 

THE MASTER’S COLLEGE VISITATION:  Juniors and seniors are invited to meet with an admissions representative from The Master's College on Thurs., 9/10 at 10:30 in the Career Center.  Pick up a permission slip in the Career Center!

 

MEETINGS

 

SPEECH AND DEBATE:  We will start meeting after school on Tuesdays.   Tuesday, Sept. 1 we will meet from 3:00 - 4:30.  After that, we will meet from 3:00 - 5:00.  Should you have any questions, please come to the library and see Mrs. Limbaugh.

 

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY will meet at lunch TODAY in room T4.  All members must attend, new members welcome.

 

YOUNG POLITICIAN’S CLUB:  Attention students: The Young Politicians Club, formerly known as the Young Republicans Club, will meet today in Room A-6 for their orientation meeting.  If you signed up for this club at registration it is important you attend this meeting so that you may become an official member.  This brief orientation meeting will take place at lunch today and all students are welcome. Please, bring your lunch and come to room A-6 for the club meeting.

      

SENIORS

SENIORS- It is time to apply for scholarships!! Castaic Lake Water Agency is challenging you to compete against other SCV Seniors for scholarships ranging from $500 to $7000. Visit www.clwa.org and click on education for details.

 

SENIOR FUN PACK:  Hey Seniors, it’s not too late to purchase your Senior Fun Pack.  Senior Fun Packs include your senior T-shirt, Senior BB-Q, Senior Picnic, Grad night and more!!!  Don’t miss out on this deal!  Fun Packs are $180 and are available in the ASB Office. 

 

SENIOR CLASS FLOAT:  Hey Seniors!  If you’re interested in participating in this year’s Homecoming Float come to J-1 on Friday, September 3 during lunch.  Our hero is Spiderman, so feel free to bring any ideas you might have!  Remember it is our last year, so let’s try and make it the best!!  GO CLASS OF 2010.
