GENERAL
FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE: Some classes are too full while others have empty seats. Your schedule could still change as counselors balance out classes for the next two weeks or so. Students may not request a program change unless there is an obvious error or a sport needs to be added. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
CELL PHONE USE: Please be aware that the use of cell phones for any purpose is not allowed in the library. Your phone will be confiscated and returned at a later time. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
REVOLUTION SAT PREP COURSE-- Listen up juniors and seniors! College applications are almost due, but if your SAT scores need help, it's not too late. Revolution Prep teaches classes right here on campus and they're starting soon. Visit revolutionprep.com for more information or stop by to see Ms. Jones in E5. She teaches the course, so she can definitely answer your questions. Don't delay- classes start in just 2 weeks!
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: Attention Local Teens 14 – 18 years old. If you are involved in one or more of the following, you may apply: *Participate in Special Education programs at school, low income situation, considered at risk. Submit your application by August 24 to: Santa Clarita Activities Center—Main Entrance Counter, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita CA 91350. TEXTBOOK DAMAGE WAIVER FORMS are due by Friday, September 4. Drop them off in the blue bins in the textbook center or library.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!! Do you like to argue and debate with teachers and others? Are you dramatic? Do you like to talk? Then Speech and Debate is for you. If you'd like to find out about Speech and Debate, come to our first meeting on Thursday, August 20 during lunch in H1. Bring your lunch and your questions.
STUDENTS AND FACULTY: Canyon High's Book Club is still going strong. If you'd like to participate or wonder what it's all about, come to a meeting on Friday, August 21 during lunch in H1. We will decide what day to meet and what book will be read. Teachers are encouraged to participate too.
CSF: If you think that your June '09 grades qualify you for the California Scholarship Federation, pick up a membership application-form in room C8, at lunch only, from Tuesday, 8/18, to Friday, 8/21. If you were a CSF member last spring and are currently a junior or senior, you will also need to pick up a volunteer-hours form. These forms are to be returned the following week, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Freshmen who were California Honor Society members at Sierra Vista are considered honorary members of CSF this semester only if they submit an application.
BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: Tryouts will be held TODAY through Friday, August 21 at lunch on the CHS Main Football Field.

U.S. AIRFORCE: Meet with a recruiter from the U.S. Air Force and learn about career opportunities during lunch TODAY at the outdoor stage.
SERVICE ACADEMY ORIENTATION: Congressman Buck McKeon will host a Service Academy Orientation Program for interested students and their parents. The program will take place in the Hart High cafeteria from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10. Various aspects of application for appointment, nomination, selection and daily life at the Academies will be discussed. Sample nomination applications are available in the Career Center.
