GENERAL

BOYS VOLLEYBALL:  Hey Cowboys!!!  Come out and support Canyon Volleyball in CIF Playoffs!!!  The playoff begins at 7:00 p.m. here at Canyon, on Thursday, May 14.  The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students.  Since this is CIF playoffs, ASB cards are not honored.  GOOD LUCK COWBOYS!!!!

DO YOU NEED A MATH CLASS THIS SUMMER? Math Support Services offers all District math and Chemistry courses for credit, in a fun flexible format that will work around your busy schedule or a vacation. Best of all 95% of students are successful in this supportive environment where class sizes are small and tutoring is included.   All programs are parent pay, however merit and need based scholarships are available! Applications must be postmarked no later than May 22nd. ACADEMIC LETTERS, LAMPS, AND BARS:  Were you absent from the Academic Banquet and Ceremony last week?  If so, you may pick up your academic letter, lamp, or bar from the AP office secretaries any day before school, at brunch, or lunch.

CSF MEMBERS who would like a spring '09 membership card and/or a volunteer-hours form should come to room C8 Wednesday at lunch only.  Remember, students who will be juniors or seniors next fall will need to have completed ten hours of volunteerism in order to qualify for CSF membership.  Getting the form before summer begins will allow you to get your volunteer hours signed off before the fall semester applications.  Students who will be sophomores in the fall will not need volunteer hours in order to apply for membership. 

KEY CLUB SENIORS:  Hours and Attendance sheets are due May 18 to May 22.  All other members, your attendance sheets are due the same date.

SWORD FIGHTS. DANCE-OFF, AND A PRINCESS WHO SWIMS THE CASTLE MOAT!! All this and more can be found at Canyon Theatre's production of the musical comedy "Once Upon a Mattress." Show dates are TODAY to May 16th at 7 PM in the Q-Theatre. Tickets are $12 or $10 with ASB card. Don't miss this medieval, madcap, musical adventure!

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2010- yes that’s you juniors!  Are you interested in a personalized parking spot for your senior year?  If you are come by the ASB office and pick up your application outside the office.  There are some simple requirements this year so pick up your application early!  Only 75 spots will be personalized and its first come first serve.  Start your senior year off right!

CAREER CENTER NEWS

UCLA VISITATION: An admissions representative from UCLA will meet with sophomores and juniors on Wed., 5/20 at 10:30 in the Library.  Learn about the UC system and what you can do now to prepare to apply.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

ENGINEER CAREER SEMINAR:  Explore careers in Engineering on Thursday, May 21 at 9:20 in the Library.  Meet with an engineer from Lockheed Martin and learn about educational requirements, job duties, job outlook and more!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

MEETINGS

KEY CLUB MEETING:  There is a Key Club General meeting in the gym on May 14 at lunch.

ANIME club is meeting in G-220 at lunch...see you there!

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY Meeting Friday (May 15th) at Lunch in room T4

SENIORS

UCLA LATINO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP:  Any Latino student attending UCLA full-time in the fall may be eligible for this scholarship.  The grants are awarded based on: scholastic excellence, extra-curricular activities, volunteers service, service to present school, and financial need.  An application, 2 essays, 2 recommendations, and other forms are needed.  Visit the counseling office for an application.  Must be postmarked by May 30, 2009.

COC VALENCIA CAMPUS TOURS:  Are you planning to attend COC this fall?  Students may participate in campus tours every Friday through 6/12 (except 6/5) at 9:00. Stop by the Career Center for details.
