GENERAL

 

ATTENTION ALL GIRLS SOCCER TEAMS:  See Mrs. Haro in the AP Office to pick up your Soccer certificates. 

 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL:  There is a meeting in room B-4 on Wednesday, May 6th at lunch for anyone interested in playing on the JV and Varsity girls’ volleyball team next year.

 

COURT AUCTION:  TODAY at lunch on the Outdoor Stage your Prom Court will be auctioned off.  So bring your friends and come out and bid on a Prom Court member!!!!

 

CHOIR AUDITIONS: If you are interested in being in one of Canyon's award winning choirs, but haven't had a chance to audition, please see Mrs. Purdy today.   You must audition for 4 of the 5 choirs.  You won't want to miss this great opportunity.  Come join your friends and make some beautiful music!

 

KEY CLUB PANCAKE BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER: Key Clubbers! There is a pancake breakfast May 2 from 7-11you can work and get service hours.  For more information contact an officer or go to V-1.

 

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2010- yes that’s you juniors!  Are you interested in a personalized parking spot for your senior year?  If you are come by the ASB office and pick up your application outside the office.  There are some simple requirements this year so pick up your application early!  Only 75 spots will be personalized and its first come first serve.  Start your senior year off right!

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  Students who turned in an application and plan on going to COC in the fall need to take the placement test and do the on line orientation.

 

IF YOU HAVE DANCE EXPERIENCE AND WANT TO BE PART OF A NATIONAL-AWARD WINNING TEAM, THEN YOU SHOULD BE AT CANYON'S DANCE TEAM AUDITION THIS SATURDAY, 10 A.M. IN THE CHS MAIN GYM...What a great activity to be involved in, a great way to make new friends, and an opportunity to show off your talents!!   You may participate even if you missed the information meeting.  See Ms. Soto, G228, for questions.

 

DO YOU HAVE TALENT?  Don’t forget to stop by the ASB Office to sign up for the Student Rally auditions.  Auditions will take place in the gym at lunch on May 5, 6, and 7.  The last day to sign up is Friday, May 1.  Don’t be afraid to show us what you got!!!!

 

PROM TICKETS ON SALE: ALL upperclassmen can now purchase Prom Tickets.  Cost: $235 per couple. Ticket sales end TOMORROW-- Friday, May 1.

 

 

 

MEETINGS

 

YOUNG REPUBLICANS will meet today in Room A-6 at lunch.  Everyone is welcome.  Please come, bring your lunch.  The topic for debate today is the 2nd amendment ... what does it really mean?

 

STUDENT TASK FORCE:  meets today in room G-201 at lunch.

 

MATH CLUB meets at lunch in room G-208. All students interested are welcome.

 

SENIORS

 

ANY SENIOR wishing to audition for Senior Speaker for Graduation should sign up in Assistant Principals Office and pick up a speech/audition information sheet.  Please do this as soon as possible.  Auditions sign-ups will end on May 15.  Auditions are on the morning of May 20. 

Sign up early to get the audition time of your choice!!  If you have any questions, please see

SENIOR STARS:  If you have been accepted to a 4-year college or university and plan on attending that school in the fall, please see Mrs. Hettema in the counseling office.  We will make a star in your honor and place it on the Senior Stars bulletin board.  Also, if you have received notice of any scholarships or awards, please let Mrs. Hettema know.  So far, the girls are outnumbering the guys almost 2-to-1 with stars.

 

TIM AND DANNY RENOLDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  The Renolds Family is proud to award a $500 scholarship to a senior male athlete with a GPA BETWEEN  2.5-3.0 who is planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college.  Applications available in the counseling office.  Deadline is May 8, 2009.

 

SENIORS:  Have you ever been a certified participant of a Valley Youth Conference Track and Field or Cross Country team for a minimum of two years?  If so, you can be awarded a 1,000 Scholarship.  Make sure you have at least a 2.5 GPA and get up to the counseling office for an application!  Hurry... Deadline is May 1, 2009.

 

DON JERRY FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP:  The Jerry family is proud to award a $2,000 scholarship to a Canyon senior who will attend a 2 or 4-year college, has a GPA of 2.5 or higher and plans to become a teacher.  Applications available in the counseling office.  Deadline is May 8, 2009.

 

THE BRIAN K. JERRY MEMORIAL ”GOOD KID” AWARD:  The Jerry family would also like to award $2,000 to a Canyon senior boy or girl with a 2.0-3.0 GPA, a varsity letter winner, well liked by peers, have a strong affection for Canyon, and will attend a 2 or 4 year college. Applications available in the counseling office.  Deadline May 8, 2009.
