GENERAL

 

PROM TICKETS ON SALE FOR SENIOR FUN PACK HOLDERS ONLY:  MONDAY, APRIL 13 AND TUESDAY, APRIL 14.  After those dates ALL upperclassmen can purchase Prom Tickets.  Cost: $200 per couple with ASB card and $210 per couple without ASB card. 

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS WITH AN OPEN 7TH PERIOD: You will have to exit campus through the Attendance Gate or the Student Parking Gate ONLY!  There will be NO MORE EXIT thru the gate near North Oaks Park. 

 

CURRENT 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who wish to apply for Honors or AP English may pick up an application from their English teacher.  Applications are due on April 20.  See your English teacher for more information."

 

CHS DANCE TEAM AUDITION WILL BE SATURDAY, MAY 2.   A MANDATORY PARENT MEETING WILL BE HELD TUESDAY, APRIL 21...STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO AFTER SPRING BREAK!

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

DREXEL UNIVERSITY INFORMATION SESSION:  Explore programs offered at Drexel University on Wed., April 22 at Skirball Cultural Center.  Representatives will meet with students and parents and discuss topics such as academic offerings, student life and more!  Registration information is available in the Career Center.

 

DISCOVERING CAREERS DAY:  Explore careers and observe demonstrations and activities at Discovering Careers Day on Saturday, April 25 from 9 - 1 at COC.  Breakout sessions such as:  How to Get Your First Job and Engineering at JPL will be presented!  Meet with over 50 business representatives and explore your future!  Stop by the Career Center for details!

 

SUMMER YOUNG WRITER’S CAMP AT CSUN:  The Young Writer's Camp will emphasize the kinds of writing required in high school and college, but will focus on writing with creativity, imagination and style.  Lear more about the program by going to www.csun.edu/writingproject or stop by the Career Center for a brochure.

 

SUMMER PROGRAMS:  What are you doing this summer?  Stop by the Career Center and check out some of the summer programs, which are being offered at universities and colleges throughout the United States.  Learn about programs such as California Actor's Workshop and Emerging Writers Institute at UC Berkeley or Brown University's Leadership Institute and many other programs! 

 

SUMMER AT OTIS:  Otis College of Art and Design, located in Los Angeles, will offer a four-week college preparation program in art and design for high school students July 6 - July 31.  Registration information is available in the Career Center.

 

 

MEETINGS

 

YOUNG REPUBLICANS will meet Thursday in Room A-6 at lunch.  Everyone is welcome.  Please come, bring your lunch and we'll try and figure out how you can get out of debt by borrowing three-times as much money...

 

MATH CLUB:  Meets today in room G-208 at lunch.

SENIORS

 

 

 

 

CSF—SENIORS:  The Seal Bearer list has been posted outside C-8.  If you want to apply for one of the scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000, pick up a scholarship application in C-8.  Applications will be accepted until Thursday, April 16 at 1:00. 

 

SEIJI ISOMOTO SCHOLARSHIP FUND:  This fund is awarding $1,000 scholarships to Asian-American seniors who have demonstrated excellence in academics and athletics throughout their high school careers.  To qualify, one or both parents must be Asian, and the student must have a 3.0 minimum GPA.  Also, the student must have lettered in a Varsity sport and be college bound.  Must be postmarked by May 2, 2009.  Visit the counseling office for an application. 

 

SANTA CLARITA VALLEY EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship will award up to $3,000 to local graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career related to education.  Please come to the counseling office and pick up an application today!! Deadline is April 10, 2009.
