GENERAL

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS WITH AN OPEN 7TH PERIOD: You will have to exit campus through the Attendance Gate or the Student Parking Gate ONLY!  There will be NO MORE EXIT thru the gate near North Oaks Park. 

 

CURRENT 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who wish to apply for Honors or AP English may pick up an application from their English teacher.  Applications are due on April 20.  See your English teacher for more information."

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY INTERVIEWS:  Attention Potential Socieadad Honoraria Hispanica Officers!!!  Interviews are just around the corner.  If you would like to be an officer for the upcoming school year, make sure you come to D-1 on Tuesday, March 31 at lunch for an interview.  You must be a current active member of SHH unless you were recommended by your Spanish 2 teacher.  Interviews will take place on a first come, first served basis.  See you there!

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS & STAFF:  New books in the library:  The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice, Rebel Angels  by Libba Bray, A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, Just Who Will You Be? by Maria Shriver, The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead, Revelations by Melissa de la Cruz, and 11 volumes of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.  Come in and check them out.

 

START SMART CLASSES are for newly licensed and future licensed teenage drivers:  (they do not replace driver education, they are free, and they are classroom based).  Classes are held at the Newhall Area CHP station located at 28648 The Old Road, Valencia - April 16, May 19, June 23, July 23, August 18, and September 22, 2009--Help newly licensed drivers and future licensed teenage drivers become aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver. Teens attend this class with their parent(s).  Attendees need to RSVP to the Newhall Area CHP station (661)294-5540 and provide his/her name, the parent's name, and a daytime telephone number.

 

CHS CHEER TRYOUTS ARE RIGHT AFTER SPRING BREAK!  If you plan to try out, you and your parents MUST attend one of the two meetings held this week.  The first meeting is tonight, Monday, March 29 and the second meeting will be Wednesday, April 1.  Meetings are at 7 p.m. in the A-lecture hall.  If you have any questions, see Ms. Soto in G228 this week!!

 

CHS DANCE TEAM AUDITION WILL BE SATURDAY, MAY 2.   A MANDATORY PARENT MEETING WILL BE HELD TUESDAY, APRIL 21...STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO AFTER SPRING BREAK!

 

SWIM TEAM FUNDRAISER: The swim team will be hosting a fundraiser at Route 66 TODAY

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

DOMINGUEZ FEST will take place on Sat., April 18 from 9 - 4.  Students and parents are invited to take tours and learn about programs.  Students who have applied to CSU Dominguez Hills, and bring transcripts and tests scores will have an opportunity to receive on-site admissions.  Registration information is available in the Career Center and by going to www.csudh.edu/outreach/dominguezfest.html.

 

MEETINGS

 

SPEECH & DEBATE:  There will be an important meeting for Speech & Debate TODAY at 3:00 p.m. in H1.  We will make final decisions about our end-of-the-year celebration.

Jostens will be on campus “ONE DAY ONLY” to deliver your graduation announcement order.  Please pick up your order on:  Wednesday, April 1st--During Brunches and Lunch--Outdoor Stage

If you have a balance due it must be paid on this day……“CASH ONLY” will be accepted!  Be on time and avoid shipping fees!   

If you still need to order your Cap & Gown and/or Graduation Announcements, pick up a late order form from ASB Office now.  Please turn in your order form on this day!

 

SENIORS:  CORE (Chicano Organizing & Research in Education) is pleased to announce its first annual "Que Llueva Café" scholarship. Applicants must be undocumented, Chicano/Latino, high school students entering college this fall.
