GENERAL

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS WITH AN OPEN 7TH PERIOD: You will have to exit campus through the Attendance Gate or the Student Parking Gate ONLY!  There will be NO MORE EXIT thru the gate near North Oaks Park. 

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY INTERVIEWS:  Attention Potential Socieadad Honoraria Hispanica Officers!!!  Interviews are just around the corner.  If you would like to be an officer for the upcoming school year, make sure you come to D-1 on Tuesday, March 31 at lunch for an interview.  You must be a current active member of SHH unless you were recommended by your Spanish 2 teacher.  Interviews will take place on a first come, first served basis.  See you there!

 

START SMART CLASSES are for newly licensed and future licensed teenage drivers:  (they do not replace driver education, they are free, and they are classroom based).  Classes are held at the Newhall Area CHP station located at 28648 The Old Road, Valencia - April 16, May 19, June 23, July 23, August 18, and September 22, 2009--Help newly licensed drivers and future licensed teenage drivers become aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver. Teens attend this class with their parent(s).  Attendees need to RSVP to the Newhall Area CHP station (661)294-5540 and provide his/her name, the parent's name, and a daytime telephone number.

 

ROP CLASSES AUG. 09:  ANY STUDENT WHO WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR AN ROP CLASS STARTING IN THE FALL OF 09 NEEDS TO GO AND SEE MRS. OKRONICK NOW.

 

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (YES):  Students interested in getting a job for the summer need to come to the Counseling Office info center to pick up an application.  Earn $8.00 an hour, work up to 200 hours over an 8-week period, and participate in job skills workshops.  Available to teens 14-18 years old who are involved in Special Ed programs, live in a low-income home, or have low grades.  Please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office for more information.

 

Come to AN EVENING OF REMEMBRANCE at the YOUTH GROVE in Central Park at 27150 Bouquet in Saugus.  It will be Monday April 13th at 7:10pm and we will be remembering the Santa Clarita Valley Youth who have lost their lives in traffic-related collisions.  This event is sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita.  "KNOW MORE. No More."  Fliers are available in the Counseling Office.

 

RENAISSANCE CARD DONUT PERK!  If you have a Renaissance Card then come to K-1 on March 31 for a FREE donut!!!!

 

SWIM TEAM FUNDRAISER: The swim team will be hosting a fundraiser at Route 66 on Tuesday, March 31st from 4 - 10.  Pick you a flyer @ Coach Himes' room or print one out from the team's web site: http://www.hartdistrict.org/canyon/swim/   

POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL: Today is the last day to turn in your Power Puff Football applications.  Juniors---we need more Juniors---so come sign up!!!

SUMMER ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT PROGRAM AT CSUN:  A Summer Enrichment Program will take place at CSUN June 29 - July 31.  Stop by the Career Center for a brochure or go to www.saep.net for detailed course descriptions.

MEETINGS

 

THE CHECKMATES CHESS AND BOARD GAME CLUB will meet in room G-117 at lunch.  All are invited to bring your lunch and competitive spirit.

 

OPERATION US will be meeting TODAY at lunch in E3.  We will be distributing permission slips and preparing to present at Fair Oaks Elementary School on April 15th and 16th.  All Operation US students are encouraged to attend! See you this Friday at lunch. 

 

SPEECH & DEBATE:  There will be an important meeting for Speech & Debate on Tuesday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m. in H1.  We will make final decisions about our end-of-the-year celebration.

 

SENIORS

SENIORS:  Your Graduation Announcement orders are here!

Jostens will be on campus “ONE DAY ONLY” to deliver your graduation announcement order.  Please pick up your order on:  Wednesday, April 1st--During Brunches and Lunch--Outdoor Stage

If you have a balance due it must be paid on this day……“CASH ONLY” will be accepted!  Be on time and avoid shipping fees!   

If you still need to order your Cap & Gown and/or Graduation Announcements, pick up a late order form from ASB Office now.  Please turn in your order form on this day!

 

 

 

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

 

*SENIORS:  CORE (Chicano Organizing & Research in Education) is pleased to announce its first annual "Que Llueva Café" scholarship. Applicants must be undocumented, Chicano/Latino, high school students entering college this fall. *SENIORS:  Reminder... The Santa Clarita Valley Association of Administrators Scholarship application is due Monday, March 30, 2009.  If you do not have an application, come to the counseling office today and pick one up!  Applicants must have attended Santa Clarita Schools for at least 7 years, have applied for admittance into a trade school, community college, or 4 year, and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  That's describes about half of our senior class.  Go get the application, NOW!!!

 

*SENIORS:  $750.00 Scholarships are available to students with disabilities who plan to attend a trade school, college or university.  Documented disability: can be physical, learning, cognitive, etc.  Applications available at www.incight.org.  Deadline is April 1, 2009.

 

*SENIORS:  Delta Sigma Sorority is offering scholarships to African American Females with a 3.0 GPA or higher.  To download an application or for more information please visit www.sfvadeltas.org . Deadline is April 1, 2009.

 

*SENIORS:  The Sierra Flyfishers Foundation would like to award two $1,000 scholarships to a senior who has maintained a 3.o GPA and has been accepted to a two or four-year college in a program focusing on environmental science, forest resources or oceanography.  Applications available in the counseling office.  Deadline in April 17, 2009.

 

*SENIORS:  The 2009 Children of Law Enforcement and Fire Service Personnel Youth Scholarship Program offers $26,000 in funds to children of active duty personnel.   Applications available in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 11, 2009.

 

*SENIORS:  If you have applied to California State University, Bakersfield... Check out the CSUB scholarships at http://www.csub.edu/FinAid/forms/index.html .  Deadline is April 1, 2009.

 

*SENIORS: Are you a male senior planning to go to USC? Then apply for the George Woolery Triangle Achievement Scholarship.  For more information contact Steven Zhu [email protected] or come pick up an application in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 5, 2009.
