GENERAL
All Canyon students are reminded that when we have minimum day, they may NOT visit other campuses, including Sierra Vista. Other schools are in full day session and it is a trespassing violation to be on their campus while their school is in session. Avoid disciplinary action and a trespassing ticket! Do not visit other schools when Canyon has a minimum day!
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (YES): Students interested in getting a job for the summer need to come to the Counseling Office info center to pick up an application. Earn $8.00 an hour, work up to 200 hours over an 8-week period, and participate in job skills workshops. Available to teens 14-18 years old who are involved in Special Ed programs, live in a low-income home, or have low grades. Please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office for more information.
RENAISSANCE CARD DONUT PERK! If you have a Renaissance Card then come to K-1 on March 31 for a FREE donut!!!!
SWIM TEAM FUNDRAISER: The swim team will be hosting a fundraiser at Route 66 on Tuesday, March 31st from 4 - 10. Pick you a flyer @ Coach Himes' room or print one out from the team's web site: http://www.hartdistrict.org/canyon/swim/
POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL: This is the last week to turn in your Power Puff Football applications. Juniors---we need more Juniors---so come sign up!!!
CAREER CENTER NEWS
SUMMER YOUNG WRITER’S CAMP AT CSUN: The Young Writer's Camp will emphasize the kinds of writing required in high school and college, but will focus on writing with creativity, imagination and style. Lear more about the program by going to www.csun.edu/writingproject or stop by the Career Center for a brochure.
UC RIVERSIDE OPEN HOUSE: UC Riverside will hold an Open House on Saturday, April 25. Students and their parents are invited to take campus tours, learn about programs and majors and more! Stop by the Career Center for details or go to highlander.ucr.edu.
MEETINGS
OPERATION US will be meeting this Friday at lunch in E3. We will be distributing permission slips and preparing to present at Fair Oaks Elementary School on April 15th and 16th. All Operation US students are encouraged to attend! See you this Friday at lunch.
SENIORS
SENIORS: Reminder... The Santa Clarita Valley Association of Administrators Scholarship application is due Monday, March 30, 2009. If you do not have an application, come to the counseling office today and pick one up! Applicants must have attended Santa Clarita Schools for at least 7 years, have applied for admittance into a trade school, community college, or 4 year, and have at least a 2.5 GPA. That's describes about half of our senior class. Go get the application, NOW!!!
