GENERAL
CANYON SWIM AND DIVE-- First League Meet is TODAY Against WEST RANCH 3PM Aquatic Center. Come out and support your Swimmers and Divers! GO Fight SWIM! Cowboys
All Canyon students are reminded that when we have minimum day, they may NOT visit other campuses, including Sierra Vista. Other schools are in full day session and it is a trespassing violation to be on their campus while their school is in session. Avoid disciplinary action and a trespassing ticket! Do not visit other schools when Canyon has a minimum day!
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (YES): Students interested in getting a job for the summer need to come to the Counseling Office info center to pick up an application. Earn $8.00 an hour, work up to 200 hours over an 8-week period, and participate in job skills workshops. Available to teens 14-18 years old who are involved in Special Ed programs, live in a low-income home, or have low grades. Please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office for more information.
RENAISSANCE CARD DONUT PERK! If you have a Renaissance Card then come to K-1 on March 31 for a FREE donut!!!!
ROP CLASSES AUG. 09: ANY STUDENT WHO WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR AN ROP CLASS STARTING IN THE FALL OF 09 NEEDS TO GO AND SEE MRS. OKRONICK NOW.
OFF-CAMPUS PASSES: Over the past couple of weeks juniors and seniors have been coming into the main office for a pass to leave at lunchtime if they do not have their ID card. You may not leave campus until 1:00 if your ID is lost, stolen or forgotten and only then with a copy of your schedule.
FOOD DAY is TODAY at lunch on the Outdoor Stage. There will be pizza, Chinese, tacos and Jamba Juice.
POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL: This is the last week to turn in your Power Puff Football applications. Juniors---we need more Juniors---so come sign up!!!

SUMMER YOUNG WRITER’S CAMP AT CSUN: The Young Writer's Camp will emphasize the kinds of writing required in high school and college, but will focus on writing with creativity, imagination and style. Lear more about the program by going to www.csun.edu/writingproject or stop by the Career Center for a brochure.
SUMMER PROGRAMS: What are you doing this summer? Stop by the Career Center and check out some of the summer programs, which are being offered at universities and colleges throughout the United States. Learn about programs such as California Actor's Workshop and Emerging Writers Institute at UC Berkeley or Brown University's Leadership Institute and many other programs!
MEETINGS
OPERATION US will be meeting this Friday at lunch in E3. We will be distributing permission slips and preparing to present at Fair Oaks Elementary School on April 15th and 16th. All Operation US students are encouraged to attend! See you this Friday at lunch.

HISPANIC BUSINESS COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP: Seniors who are of Hispanic/Latino background and legal residents with a minimum 2.5 GPA may be eligible for this scholarship. The HBC is Santa Clarita Valley's leading Hispanic organization and Canyon will have 1 senior winner!! Apply today! Visit the counseling office for an application or download on at www.scvchamber.com. Applications must be received by March 31, 2009.
SENIOR STARS: If you have been accepted to a 4-year college or university and plan on attending that school in the fall, please see Mrs. Hettema in the counseling office. We will make a star in your honor and place it in the new showcase cabinet outside the Counseling Office. Also, if you have received notice of any scholarships or awards, please let Mrs. Hettema know.
