GENERAL

PAJAMA BOTTOM DAY:  Come “ Comfy and Cozy” to school on Friday, February 27—because it’s PAJAMA BOTTOM DAY!!!  Keep in mind that you are at school, so the dress code still applies!!!

 

CAN FOOD DRIVE:  This is the last week of the Can Food Drive!!  Remember the 3rd period class with the most cans wins a bagel party!

 

WINTER FORMAL PICTURES are here!! Pick them up in the ASB office during brunch and lunch only!!!

 

CONGRATULATIONS to Garrett Cervetto for winning first place in Original Prose and Poetry in the Tri Valley Individual Events competition held Saturday at West Ranch High School.  He picket fenced which means he earned first place in all three rounds.  Congratulations also go out to Cynthia Lapos for winning an Excellent Certificate in Oratorical Interpretation and to Jazmin Siebert for winning a Superior Certificate in Oratorical Interpretation.

 

RENAISSANCE CARD HOLDERS: Your Disneyland trip is March 20, the cost is $70 and you can pick up trip slips outside the ASB office. The first 108 students to turn in their paperwork and money will go.

 

ACADEMY OF THE CANYONS:  Representatives from Academy of the Canyons will be in the quad TODAY at lunch to answer any questions you may have about the AOC program.  Please stop by their table and pick up a flyer about upcoming informational meetings for any student considering making a change and getting a head start on college, tuition free!

 

YIC FUNDRAISER @ MOUNTASIA THIS Friday FEB 27th from 3-11pm.  spend $19.99 for a 3hr pass, which includes: unlimited golf, go-karts, bumper boats, rock wall, laser tag, and regular video games

DIVE, DUCK, DODGE, AND DIVE!  Dodge Balls sign ups are going this week in C-5!  Sign yourself or your Dodge Ball team up in C-5.  All are welcome! 

 

MOCK SAT-- Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen- listen up!  On Saturday Feb 28th, the AVID program will sponsor a $20 mock SAT exam.  This is a great way for you to take the SAT for a test drive, and for less than a third of the price of the actual test!  You must sign up online though, so visit revolutionprep.com or see Ms. Jones in E5 for more information.  Don't delay- spaces are limited! 

 

VOTING: Bring your ID Card to vote Thursday during brunch and lunch on the outdoor stage.

Today the ANIME club is meeting in G-220 at lunch...see you there!

THESPIAN SOCIETY MEMBERS: There will be a meeting TODAY at lunch in the Q-Theatre. Be sure to attend as we will be taking yearbook photos.

POKEMON CLUB COMPETITION:  Attention all Pokemon Diamond and Pearl trainers, don’t forget to sign up for the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Competition this Thursday.  Sign up in room E-4.

PRE-HEALTH CONFERENCE AT CSUN:  Are you interested in learning about careers in the health care field?  Attend the Pre-Health Conference at CSUN on Sat., March 7 from 8:30 - 2:30 and meet with representatives from Children's Hospital, USC School of Pharmacy, USC School of Dentistry and CSUN Pre-Health Professions Advisor. MILITARY CAREERS SEMINAR:  Are you considering a career in the U.S. Military?  Meet with representatives from the Air Force, Army, California Army National Guard, Marines and Navy on Thurs., 2/26 at 11:25 in the Library and learn about each branch!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

APPAREL NEWS & FOCUS DAYS AT CAL POLY POMONA:  Learn about career and degree opportunities in the apparel business at Cal Poly Pomona on March 5, 6 or 7.  The day will include a tour of classrooms, presentations and demonstrations, displays of latest student-designed clothing lines and more!  Registration information is available in the Career Center.

 

CAL POLY POMONA COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE OPEN HOUSE:  The College of Agriculture at Cal Poly Pomona will host an Open House on Saturday, March 7 from 9:00 - 1:00.  Students and their parents will have an opportunity meet faculty, learn about academic programs, witness special demonstrations and more!  RSVP at www.csupomona.edu/agri and click on Open House or stop by the Career Center for additional information.

 

SENIORS

DIPLOMA NAMES:  All seniors need to check the diploma name list on the bulletin board outside the Health Office to make sure that their name is spelled correctly and that it is their legal name.  If you find an error, please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office immediately so that a correction can be made.  Otherwise, your name will appear on your diploma as it is written on this list.  All changes and corrections need to be made by 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009.  Copies of birth certificates are required for all changes.

 

SENIORS: Is your parent or guardian a CLASSIFIED employee of the William S. Hart School District AND a member of CSEA (California School Employees Association)? Then you could be eligible for scholarships for a vocational school, community college, or a four-year university.  Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline is March 6, 2009.

 

CSEA State Scholarship offers $1,000 to dependants and spouses of CSEA members. Students must be graduating seniors who plan to continue their education at a trade school or an accredited college and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications are available at www.csea.com/scholarships Deadline is
