GENERAL

TUTORING with Mrs. Denny this Thursday after school is canceled. Remember there is tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday morning with Mr. Broneer from 7:30 to 7:55.  Lunch tutoring is available with Mrs. Craig on Tuesdays and Thursdays and with Mr. Richardson on Mondays.

 

LETTERMAN JACKET SIZING: Wednesday, March 11th, Bruches only on the outdoor stage.

 

2010 YEARBOOK STAFF: Yearbook is more than "taking pictures," to be honest its hard work, and you don't even get paid! BUT... if you're still interested and you're a hard working Junior or Sophomore who is up to the challenge, then get an application from T2 or the Counseling office. Submit your applications to Mr. McCann or a current yearbook staff member by the end of March.

 

KEY CLUB:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  If you would like to volunteer at the NEW LEASH ON LIFE animal shelter, then please attend a mandatory orientation Saturday, February 21.  Go to room V-1 for more information.

 

RENAISSANCE CARD HOLDERS: Your Disneyland trip is March 20, the cost is $70 and you can pick up trip slips outside the ASB office. The first 108 students to turn in their paperwork and money will go.

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  * The Advanced Placement Exams will be given the first two weeks of May.  May 4th - 14th, 2009.

* Students will only be able to sign up and pay for exams March 2 - 13, 2009 in the ASB office.

* The fee for each test is $86, unless student is on a free or reduced lunch.

KEY CLUB:  Hey Canyon High!!!  Key Club is doing a coin drive for Pennies for Patients.  Please donate your coins to your second period class.  The class that has collected the most money by February 20 wins a donut party. 

 

FOOD DRIVE:  Listen up all 3rd period classmates.  ASB is holding their annual food drive all through the month of February.  Lets help out those who are less fortunate by bringing in canned food and sealed toiletries.  The 3rd period class with the most items will win a bagel party.

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

MILITARY CAREERS SEMINAR:  Are you considering a career in the U.S. Military?  Meet with representatives from the Air Force, Army, California Army National Guard, Marines and Navy on Thurs., 2/26 at 11:25 in the Library and learn about each branch!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

 

APPAREL NEWS & FOCUS DAYS AT CAL POLY POMONA:  Learn about career and degree opportunities in the apparel business at Cal Poly Pomona on March 5, 6 or 7.  The day will include a tour of classrooms, presentations and demonstrations, displays of latest student-designed clothing lines and more!  Registration information is available in the Career Center.

 

MEETINGS

*NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY meeting Wednesday (TODAY) at Lunch in room T4. All members must attend!

*BOOK DISCUSSION CLUB:  We will meet this Friday in the ROP Office during lunch to finish our discussion on Mr. Smith's book, Ghost Medicine.  We will also choose our next book, so bring suggestions and a copy of the book if possible.

*Today the ANIME club is meeting in G-220 at lunch...see you there!

*  POKEMON CLUB AND COMPETITION:  Pokemon Club is sponsoring a Diamond and Pearl competition on February 26.  For more information come to a meeting in room E-4 tomorrow, or speak with Mrs. Day.

 

SENIORS

CITY OF SANTA CLARITA –CAMP CLARITA POSITIONS:  Attention Seniors:  The City of Santa Clarita is currently accepting applications for their summer day camp program.  Stop by the Career Center and pick up flyers regarding positions such as Recreation Leader and Camp Counselor.

 

 

SENIORS: Is your parent or guardian a CLASSIFIED employee of the William S. Hart School District AND a member of CSEA (California School Employees Association)? Then you could be eligible for scholarships for a vocational school, community college, or a four-year university.  Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline is March 6, 2009.

 

CSEA State Scholarship offers $1,000 to dependants and spouses of CSEA members. Students must be graduating seniors who plan to continue their education at a trade school or an accredited college and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications are available at www.csea.com/scholarships Deadline is March 31, 2009.

 

You can still apply to CSU East Bay (Hayward Hills overlooking San Francisco). They will accept applications through March 1st. Submit your application at www.csumentor.edu. Their total fee package is the lowest compared to all Bay area universities. Good luck!!
