JAZZ/POP: Jazz/Pop auditions are coming soon! Be sure to "get your act together"! If you missed the Jazz/Pop meeting last week, please see Mrs. Purdy in the choir room who will answer any questions you might have. Remember, Jazz/Pop auditions are open to the whole school!
VAL-O-GRAMS: Do you want to celebrate Valentine's Day in a big way? Do you have a special someone (friend or boyfriend/girlfriend) here at Canyon that you would like to honor? The choirs have just the thing for you. Val-o-grams will go on sale tomorrow. Ask any choir student about them. They cost $7. For that low cost, your special person will receive a song sung by some of the Madrigals, a chocolate lollipop, a flower, a balloon, and something to treasure always! Come to the choir room for more information.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Are you interested in running for an ASB executive office or a class office for the 09-10 school year. If you are interested please come to a meeting on Feb. 2nd or Feb. 3rd. at 7pm in J-1. You must attend one of the meetings in order to run for an office. Everyone is welcome! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ambrose in the ASB office.
WINTER FORMAL: Remember if you are going to Winter Formal YOU MUST HAVE ID to get in.
WRITER’S WORKSHOP- Are you having problems writing that essay for your class? Need help writing an essay for that college application? If you need help with writing of any kind, come to Writer's Workshop. Writer's workshop meets in C-1 with Mr. Fannon every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before school from 6 to 7am, and at lunch.
UNA MAS FUNDRAISER: The Una Mas Fundraiser is TONIGHT. Come and support Canyon ASB. All you have to say is Canyon High School and 15% of your purchase will go towards our school. Una Mas is across from Sams Club.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!! Sign up in the library to compete in the Lion's Club Speech contest. The school contest will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 3:15 in H1. Two contestants will move on to the Club Level. The topic of the speech is: "Water - Will California be Left High and Dry?" You are to write and deliver a 10-minute speech on water and how California will move forward concerning this precious natural resource. Those participating at the Club Level will earn a minimum of $25 or $50 if he or she wins. Each level earns more money. The final winner will receive $20,000 in scholarship money. Please see Mrs. Limbaugh in the library to sign up and to answer any of your questions.
KEY CLUB HOURS DUE: Hey Key Clubbers!!! Your hours are due. Turn in your hours TODAY through January30 in room V-1.
SAT PREP CLASSES-- Attention sophomores and juniors! Were your PSAT scores less than you hoped for? Are you stressed about the real SAT? ATTENTION CSF MEMBERS: You will be able to continue picking up hour sheets and applications in room C-8 during lunch until the end of January. We will begin accepting applications and hour sheets beginning February 3 and ending February 6.

NROTC SCHOLARSHIP MEETING: Did you know that a Marine NROTC Scholarship is worth $150,000! Meet with representatives from the Marines and learn how you can qualify for this valuable scholarship. The meeting will take place today at 10:30 in the Career Center. Stop by the Career Center for a permission slip.
CITY OF SANTA CLARITA: Camp Clarita Positions: Attention Seniors: The City of Santa Clarita is currently accepting applications for their summer day camp program. Stop by the Career Center and pick up flyers regarding positions such as Recreation Leader and Camp Counselor.
UC IRVINE STAY-OVER PROGRAM: Participate in the UC Irvine Stay-Over Program and find out if the university is right for you! Participants must be juniors or seniors and at least 16 years of age. Students will experience university life first hand by spending a night in the residence halls with a current UCI undergraduate student. The program will run January 14 - March 5. Stop by the Career Center for details.
