GENERAL
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Are you interested in running for an ASB executive office or a class office for the 09-10 school year? If you are interested please come to a meeting on Feb. 2nd or Feb. 3rd. at 7pm in J-1. You must attend one of the meetings in order to run for an office. Everyone is welcome! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ambrose in the ASB office.
WINTER FORMAL: Remember if you are going to Winter Formal YOU MUST HAVE ID to get in.
WRITER’S WORKSHOP- Are you having problems writing that essay for your class? Need help writing an essay for that college application? If you need help with writing of any kind, come to Writer's Workshop. Writer's workshop meets in C-1 with Mr. Fannon every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before school from 6 to 7am, and at lunch.
UNA MAS FUNDRAISER: The Una Mas Fundraiser is Wednesday, January 28. Come and support Canyon ASB. All you have to say is Canyon High School and 15% of your purchase will go towards our school. Una Mas is across from Sams Club.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!! Sign up in the library to compete in the Lion's Club Speech contest. The school contest will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 3:15 in H1. Two contestants will move on to the Club Level. The topic of the speech is: "Water - Will California be Left High and Dry?" You are to write and deliver a 10-minute speech on water and how California will move forward concerning this precious natural resource. Those participating at the Club Level will earn a minimum of $25 or $50 if he or she wins. Each level earns more money. The final winner will receive $20,000 in scholarship money. Please see Mrs. Limbaugh in the library to sign up and to answer any of your questions.
SAT PREP CLASSES-- Attention sophomores and juniors! Were your PSAT scores less than you hoped for? Are you stressed about the real SAT? Does the idea of writing an essay in 25 minutes make you break out in hives? Don't worry- Revolution Prep offers affordable SAT classes right here on Canyon's campus taught by a Canyon teacher. They also offer scholarships for those who qualify. Stop by E5 to see Ms. Jones for questions or visit revolutionprep.com. They even guarantee a 200-point boost for all those who take the course!
PSAT RESULTS ARE IN! Students may pick up their PSAT results in the Career Center before school, during brunch, lunch and after school.
KEY CLUB HOURS DUE: Hey Key Clubbers!!! Your hours are due. Turn in your hours TODAY through January30 in room V-1.
ATTENTION CSF MEMBERS: You will be able to continue picking up hour sheets and applications in room C-8 during lunch until the end of January. We will begin accepting applications and hour sheets beginning February 3 and ending February 6.
CAREER CENTER NEWS
NROTC SCHOLARSHIP MEETING: Learn about Naval ROTC Scholarships on Wednesday, January 28 at 10:30 in the Career Center. Representatives from the Navy will discuss how you can apply for the scholarship. Stop by the Career Center for permission slips.

SENIORS: OOPPS!! You missed the Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation Meeting!! You did not hear about the thousands of dollars available just for having a 2.0 GPA and living in the SCV!! WAIT..... the scholarship counselors just announced that there is STILL time to get your applications in!! Visit www.scvsf.org for more information and an application!
