GENERAL

 

WINTER FORMAL:  The LAST day of ticket sales for Winter Formal is TODAY.  Dude, just ask her already!!!  Tickets are $80. 

 

WINTER RALLY:  Come out TODAY to the Winter Rally in the Main Gym. 

 

BASKETBALL GAMES:  Jump, Shoot, Swish, Buzzer—Canyon Wins!!  TODAY there are 3 home basketball games here at Canyon.  JV Boys play at 3:30, Varsity girls play at 5:00, and Varsity boys play at 6:30.  Come and support your Cowboys and Cowgirls play against Saugus….

 

MPROV TEAM TRYOUTS: Ever wanted to play games like the ones you see on "Who's Line is it Anyway?" Auditions for the Canyon Improv Team are this Monday January 26th starting at 2 PM if you do not have a 7th period and 3 PM if you do. Bring your sense of humor and be ready to play!

 

THE SANTA CLARITA LION’S CLUB is sponsoring their annual speech contest.  Two students from Canyon High will be selected to compete against students from Hart High and Golden Valley High Schools.  Students are to create a 10 (ten) minute speech on the topic: "Water - Will California be Left High and Dry?"  The school contest will be held Wednesday, February 11 at 3:15 in H1. 

See Mrs. Limbaugh in the library for details.

 

LETTERS FROM THE WHITE HOUSE CONTEST:  To enter the contest, students are to write and submit either a letter or journal entry about an imagined or researched experience of living or working in the White House. The contest is sponsored by National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance.  Letters or journal entries are due to Mrs. Limbaugh in the library by February 6.  For complete information and rules see Mrs. Limbaugh in the library.

 

PSAT RESULTS ARE IN!  Students may pick up their PSAT results in the Career Center before school, during brunch, lunch and after school.

KEY CLUB HOURS DUE:  Hey Key Clubbers!!!  Your hours are due.  Turn in your hours January 26 to January30 in room V-1.

 

ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE AN OPEN PERIOD, ROTC or a COC class:  You will need to have an open sticker placed on your ID to leave campus if you have an abbreviated schedule.  Please leave your ID with the campus supervisor as you leave campus using the following guidelines.  The next day, you will need to pick up your ID on the south side of the new administration building (just outside the Counseling entrance) during brunch or lunch.

If you miss this opportunity, you must leave your ID with Mrs. Nelson in the AP offices before 8:00 a.m. for it to be ready for your pickup by lunch the same day.  Remember, open stickers will not be placed on your ID while you wait. 

 

ATTENTION CSF MEMBERS:  Application and hour sheets are available to be picked up during lunch in room C-8, from TODAY to Friday, January 23.  The completed forms are due Tuesday, January 27 to Friday, January 30.

 

MEETINGS

 

BOOK DISCUSSION CLUB:  We have made our next selection.  We will be reading Andy Smith's Ghost Medicine.  We will read to page 53 (Chapter 4) for this Friday's discussion.  If you have already read the book, please join us to discuss the book.  Anyone is welcome.  We will meet TODAY during lunch in H1

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN CAREER SEMINAR:  Explore a career as an Architect and Interior Designer on Monday, January 26 at 11:25 in the Library.  Learn about educational requirements, job duties, salary ranges and more.  The Architect will present a great stress-test demonstration.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

SENIORS

 

DIPLOMA NAME FORMS:  If you did not receive the Diploma Name Form from your teacher, please pick one up from Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office, complete, and return to Mrs. Hettema as soon as possible.  This will help to insure the correct spelling of your name on your diploma.

 

SENIORS: The California Association of Collectors Scholarship Foundation would like to give you $2,500 to use at any accredited college, university or vocational school. The scholarship is based upon a simple one-page application and a three page essay on "Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit during Your College Years".
