GENERAL

 

All NHS members must stop by G105 on Friday or Tuesday for important information.

 

BLOOD DRIVE: There will be another blood drive for Nate on Friday, January 23.  Stop by G-105 for details.  Come on Cowboys-we need your blood.

 

SPANISH TUTORING:  Spanish Tutoring begins tomorrow at lunch in D4 and Thursday at lunch in D2.

 

KEY CLUB HOURS DUE:  Hey Key Clubbers!!!  Your hours are due.  Turn in your hours January 26 to January30 in room V-1.

 

ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE AN OPEN PERIOD, ROTC or a COC class:  You will need to have an open sticker placed on your ID to leave campus if you have an abbreviated schedule.  Please leave your ID with the campus supervisor as you leave campus using the following guidelines.  The next day, you will need to pick up your ID on the south side of the new administration building (just outside the Counseling entrance) during brunch or lunch.

 

Tuesday, January 20                ROTC, COC underclassmen

           (ROTC should drop off their IDs to Mrs. Nelson any time during this date)

Wednesday, January 21            Grade 12 only

Thursday, January 22            Grade 11 only

Monday, January 26           Makeups

 

If you miss this opportunity, you must leave your ID with Mrs. Nelson in the AP offices before 8:00 a.m. for it to be ready for your pickup by lunch the same day.  Remember, open stickers will not be placed on your ID while you wait. 

 

WINTER FORMAL:  Winter Formal is January 31.  Come out and dance the night away.  Tickets are not being sold after Friday, January 23.   Tickets are $80 from January 20-23 for all couples. 

 

ATTENTION CSF MEMBERS:  Application and hour sheets are available to be picked up during lunch in room C-8, from TODAY to Friday, January 23.  The completed forms are due Tuesday, January 27 to Friday, January 30.

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

PSAT RESULTS ARE IN!  Students may pick up their PSAT results in the Career Center before school, during brunch, lunch and after school beginning Tuesday, January 20.

 

SUMMER PROGRAM AT PEPPERDINE:  Juniors are invited to apply to a summer program which will take place at Pepperdine University.  Students will enroll in 6 - 7 units of undergraduate work, receive college credit and live in undergraduate residences.  Stop by the Career Center for details.

 

CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS:  The California State Summer School for the Arts (INNERSPARK) program will take place at Cal Arts from July 11 - August 7.   Students who are accepted into the program will have an opportunity to study with working professional artists, writers and performers.  Application information is available in the Career Center and at www.innerspark.us

 

MEETINGS

 

HEY BRAINSTORMERS!  It's time to get to work to defend our championship!  Our first meeting will be TODAY at lunch in D-5 (note the change of room!).  We especially need smart seniors and freshmen!

 

KEY CLUB MEETING:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  There is a general meeting on Wednesday, January 28 at lunch in the gym.

 

SENIORS

 

DIPLOMA NAME FORM:  Your Government or Economics teachers will be asking you to complete the Diploma Name Form during class this week.  Please print your legal first, middle and last names.  This will help to insure the correct spelling on your diploma and the way that it will appear.  If you don't receive one, you may pick up the form in the Counseling Office.

 

SENIORS—STILL LOOKING FOR $$ FOR COLLEGE?? There will be an informational lunch meeting Thursday (1/22/09) in B Lecture hall introducing the Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation application process. Thousands of dollars are earmarked for Canyon seniors! Don't miss out.

 

STAFF

 

ECON AND GOVERNMENT TEACHERS:  Today, Tuesday, 1/20, the Diploma Name forms will be in your mailboxes for all seniors in your classes to complete.  Please have seniors write their complete first, middle, and last name as it is on their birth certificate.  Please return the forms to Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23.
