GENERAL

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO:   Garrett Cervetto and Jeff Curtis for earning a Superior certificate for participating in the Debate tournament held at Valencia High School Nov. 22. 

They competed in Public Forum.  Way to go guys!

 

ARE YOU A YOUNG WOMAN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 14 AND 17 who volunteers in your community or school? Do you see challenges instead of obstacles? Then you may be eligible to win a Violet Richardson Award. This award recognizes young women who make the community a better place through volunteer efforts. Winners receive cash awards from $500 to $1000. Visit www.soroptimist.org for more details. ACADEMIC AWARDS:  Congratulations to all students who were honored at the Academic Ceremony last Wednesday night.  If you did not pick up your Academic Letter, Lamp or Bar, please collect those from Mrs. Nelson in the  AP Office during brunch or lunch, before or after school.  Awards will be available for pick up through December 12th.

 

COWBOY ALUMNI BASKETBALL:  TONIGHT the Canyon Basketball teams will host their annual Alumni game. The festivities begin with the most recent alumni playing each other at 4:30. Followed by the girl's varsity basketball team playing the boys' JV at 6:00.  At 7:30, the Canyon Varsity boys' will play the alumni in the main event. Come and join us for an evening of fun and prizes as we celebrate our past athletes and present. Admission is Free -- you don't want to miss this exciting event.

 

 

 

 

 


BOYS TENNIS:  Any boys interested in joining the boy’s tennis team report to the tennis courts after school Dec. 1st-dec. 5th. for tryouts.

 

WOW! Do you like listening to books on tape but hate to carry around a CD player?  Well, try listening to a book on a Playaway.  You can use your own earphones or purchase a set for $1.00 when you check out a book.  We have the following books on Playaways:  Big Mouth & Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table by Benedict Flynn, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier, Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, and Lord of the Flies by William Golding.  Come in and check them out!

 

MEETINGS

 

HEY ALL YOU ENVIRONMENTALLY AWARE COWBOYS!  There will be an important LEAF Club meeting at lunch, on Tuesday, December 2nd. in K-5

 

JOY CLUB:  There will be a JOY CLUB meeting on Thursday, December 4 in B-7 at lunch.  We will be making a list for the Rose Bowl Parade Float.  New members always welcome!

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS: Not sure what to do after high school? That's Ok, just continue your education at any college OR post-secondary vocational/technical school and Burger King will provide educational expenses during the first year! FIRST TIME FRESHMEN HAVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 30TH TO APPLY TO CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE FOR FALL 2009:  California State University, Northridge, will cease accepting applications for first-time freshmen for Fall 2009 at the end of the priority filing period after the close of business on Sunday, November 30th, 2008. The early closure is necessary due to the large number of students seeking admission to Cal State Northridge during the initial application period.
