GENERAL

 

GREEN and GOLD NIGHT:  You are invited to the 9th annual Canyon Boys' Basketball green and gold night this coming Thursday, November 20th, at 7:00 pm.  Come and get a glimpse of the varsity, JV and Freshmen teams as they "strut" their stuff in front of family and friends.  This is a great opportunity to show support for the young men who will be representing Canyon Basketball throughout the Winter Athletic season.  There will be raffle prizes and appetizers for your enjoyment.  Hope to see you there...

 

DO YOU HAVE GREAT LEADERSHIP SKILLS?  Are you interested in planning activities for the student body for Spring 09? If you are, pick up an ASB commissioner application outside of J-7.  Applications will be available till Thursday and are due on Friday 11-21.  There are only a few spots open.  Get your application today!

 

NOVEMBER IS TOBACCO AWARENESS MONTH, and  American Cancer Society wants to get you involved. Come to the outdoor stage on Wed. and Thursday to honor a loved one  who passed away from  tobacco-related cancer. On Friday in the senior quad, ACS will be hosting the annual Tobacco Cemetery. Come pay 50 cents and support the local Santa Clarita Division of ACS. Your donations will be a tribute to your loved ones, and help those in need in our own valley.

 

THEATRE AUDITIONS: Tryouts for next semester's Children's Show, "The Emperor's New Clothes" will be Tuesday November 18th starting at 2:15 PM. Arrive at 3:15 PM if you have a 7th period. No preparation necessary.

 

SWIM TEAM:  The swim team is having a fundraiser on Tuesday, November 18th at the Canyon Country Wing Stop from 5-10pm, located in the Albertson's shopping center.  20% of all sales will go towards the Swim Team.   Flyers are in Coach Himes room T-1.

Interested in pursuing a career where you get to work in the great outdoors?  This course offers participants a great opportunity to explore an outdoor recreation career working with different Land Management Agencies including the United States Forest Service, Pacific Crest Trails Association, and the Mountain Recreation Conservation Authority.  Course includes weekly hands on training in trail construction and maintenance; environmental stewardship; leave no trace ethics; wilderness navigation, land management practices and much, much more!

 

NURSE ASSISTANT (Introduction)

Learn techniques of infection control, record

vital signs, psychosocial needs & assist

patients basic personal needs & ambulation.

CAREER CENTER NEWS

MOUNT ST. MARY’S VISITATION: A representative from Mount St. Mary's College will meet with students on Friday, November 21 at 11:30 in the Career Center.  Stop by the Career Center for a permission slip.

MEETINGS

RUGBY:  Canyon's Rugby Club will be meeting on Thursday, November 20, at lunch in the A Lecture Hall to discuss the start of the season. All interested boys and girls need to attend.

 

127 BIBLE CLUB is meeting today at lunch in the Choir Room. 

 

SENIORS

FIRST TIME FRESHMEN HAVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 30TH TO APPLY TO CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE FOR FALL 2009:  California State University, Northridge, will cease accepting applications for first-time freshmen for Fall 2009 at the end of the priority filing period after the close of business on Sunday, November 30th, 2008. The early closure is necessary due to the large number of students seeking admission to Cal State Northridge during the initial application period.
