GENERAL

 

MIX-IT-UP-DAY:  Today is National Mix-it-Up Day:  a day designed to break down social barriers.  We will be hosting lunchtime activities for students to mix-it-up and meet someone new.  At brunch and lunch come to the outdoor stage to pick up a popsicle stick with a number on it.  You will go on a fun scavenger hunt with a group of students.  At the end, your prize for completing the scavenger hunt is Dippin Dots!  You must participate at lunch to get Dippin Dots!  Come out and have fun!

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  Members from Spanish Honor Society need to pick up the permission slip for our movie night November 20.  Please pick it up from D-2 or D-4 at lunch. 

 

SOFTBALL TRYOUTS-- are today at 3:15 on the field at North Oaks Park.  If you plan on participating in softball you must come to tryouts.  The tryouts are for new and returning players. 

 

SWIM TEAM:  The swim team is having a fundraiser on Tuesday, November 18th at the Canyon Country Wing Stop from 5-10pm, located in the Albertson's shopping center.  20% of all sales will go towards the Swim Team.   Flyers are in Coach Himes room T-1.

 

ATTENTION ALL CANYON HIGH SCHOOL FEMALE STUDENTS ages 14 –17:  If you are interested in being in the Miss San Fernando Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, go see Mrs. Okronick at the ROP Office.  APPLICATION DEADLINE IS NOV. 30, 2008

 

ARE YOU A CURRENT 9TH OR 10TH GRAGER who knows you want to go to a four-year university directly out of high school?  Are you unsure of how to get there?  Do you have a GPA between 2.0 and 3.5?  Are you the first in your family to go to college?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be eligible for AVID.  See Mrs. Delawder in room C4 for an application or ask your teachers for more information.  Applications are due November 14th to room C4."

 

HAVE YOU BOUGHT A 2009 YEARBOOK YET?  November is your last chance to buy a 2009 yearbook at the introductory price of ($65 dollars with an ASB card and $70 without). After Thanksgiving break the prices will increase. SO don't procrastinate and buy your yearbook today.

 

SWIM TEAM TRYOUTS will be held Nov 18th 19th and the 20th from 3:15 till 4:00 at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.  Questions?  Talk to Coach Himes in Room T-1

 

 

 

 

 

 

MEETINGS

 

NHS- There will be an NHS meeting this Friday, November 14, at lunch in G-105.

 

OPERATION US:  This week's meeting has been changed to TODAY at 12:30 in E3. Bring your lunch and completed Golden Oak permission slips.  If you are planning on attending Monday's Golden Oak presentation you need to be at the meeting.  See Ms. Mast with any questions.

 

YOUNG REPUBLICANS will meet today in Room A-6 at lunch.  Everyone is welcome.  Please come and bring your lunch and we'll talk about the election and begin planning a strategy for 2012.

 

STUDENT TASK FORCE:  The Student Task Force meets every Thursday in room G-201.

 

SENIORS

FIRST TIME FRESHMEN HAVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 30TH TO APPLY TO CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE FOR FALL 2009:  California State University, Northridge, will cease accepting applications for first-time freshmen for Fall 2009 at the end of the priority filing period after the close of business on Sunday, November 30th, 2008. The early closure is necessary due to the large number of students seeking admission to Cal State Northridge during the initial application period.
