GENERAL

 

STUDENTS:  You MUST have your ID card in order to leave campus at lunch.  No more schedules will be signed to allow juniors and seniors to leave campus.  If you forget your ID card, you must wait until 1:00 at which point you may be permitted to leave with an appropriately printed schedule.  If you have lost your ID card, you must purchase a new one for $10 in the ASB office, and then take your receipt to the Textbook center on Tuesdays and Thursdays only at brunch or lunch.

 

10th and 11th grade students:  For those who have signed up for the PSAT it will take place on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 and will begin at 7:45 in the Main Gym for Juniors and the Auxiliary Gym for Sophomores. Please be sure to arrive on time because unfortunately there will be no late admittance or refunds given. Be sure to bring a pen, at least two number 2 pencils and a calculator. If you are bringing a drink be sure to remove the label prior to entering testing. Seating will be alphabetical so be sure to sit in the seat with your name on it or you will be marked absent.  Good luck!

 

IMPROV TEAM AND FANS: The Canyon High Improv Team will be performing in a competition with the Hart High Improv team this Wednesday October 15th from 6-8 PM at Hart High School. Admission is free. Come support Canyon in a night of hilarity!

 

DISNEYLAND CONTEST:  Come purchase your ticket for a chance to win 4 Youth Disneyland tickets, good until December 11.  They are $1 a chance and can be purchased from any ASB Renaissance student.  Winners will be drawn on October 22 and the tickets will be delivered the next day.  Only $1 for a chance of 4 Disneyland tickets. 

 

TEEN READ WEEK:  Come attend the demonstration by the pastry chef at COC, Cindy Schwanke.   It will take place period 4 today in the library.  Pick up a permission slip in the library.

 

CONGRATULATIONS to Dylan Belardinelli, Kelly Boardman, Gina Kodel and Jeff Kodel for being selected for the Southern California Honor Choir.  About 650 students from all over Southern California auditioned for this choir, but only 200 were chosen.  They will perform in the Honor Choir concert on Sat. Nov. 22 at Santa Monica High School.  Way to go!!

 

ROP CLASSES STARTING JAN. 09, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING AN R.O.P. CLASS STARTING NEXT SEMESTER, YOU MUST SEE MRS. OKRONICK IN THE R.O.P. OFFICE STARTING THE WEEK OF OCT. 13th, 2008.

 

FRESHMEN HOMECOMING FLOAT MEETING:  There is a meeting TODAY during lunch in room E-1.  Please bring a $3.00 donation for pizza.  Drinks will be provided.  Hope to see you there. 

SAT EXPRESS: Do you need prep help fast? Kaplan is offering a condensed course for those who have limited time to prepare & want a good basic skills review. Classes will be at Golden Valley starting Sat. 10/18. Informational flyers are available in Counseling office. :)

 

TICO’S TACOS:  Come out and support ASB on October 15th at Tico’s Tacos, previously Wanna Iguana.  Bring your flyers all day.

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

CSUN VISITATION:  Attention Seniors:  Meet with a representative from CSUN on Wed., 10/22 and learn about CSUN and the Cal State System.  The meeting will take place in the Library at 10:30.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  There is a meeting TODAY at lunch in room D-2.

 

ALL CSF MEMBERS come to room C-8 during lunch on Thursday or Friday for your CSF membership card.  Please bring your ID card. 

 

OPERATION US will be meeting this week on Thursday in E3 at lunch.  We will be preparing for our upcoming presentations.  See you there!

 

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP:  We are meeting on Friday in H1 during lunch.  We are reading to page 166.  See you there.

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS: The Young Entrepreneur Foundation is offering over 400 scholarships ranging in value of $1,000-$10,000 to students who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit. Examples include: starting his/her own business; designing web sites; and participating in organizations such as Junior Achievement; Future Business Leaders and community service.
