GENERAL

 

SANTA CLARITA COLLEGE DAY:

TOMORROW from 9am to 1pm at College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus.

-Admission is free

-High School Parents and Students are invited

-Meet with college and university reps from across the nation

Workshop Include:

Exploring the UC System- CSU System- SAT & ACT Test Secrets- The Community College: Programs and Transfer- Financial Aid Process- Admission Essays, Recommendations, and Interview- Private School Admission- College Bound Athlete

 

GIRLS LOCKER ROOM:  is closed every Friday at 3:15 p.m.

 

SAT EXPRESS: Do you need prep help fast? Kaplan is offering a condensed course for those who have limited time to prepare & want a good basic skills review. Classes will be at Golden Valley starting Sat. 10/18. Informational flyers are available in Counseling office. :)

 

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEND THEIR BRUNCH AND/OR LUNCH TIME LOITERING IN THE G-BUILDING, OR ON THE STAIRWELLS OF THE G-BUILDING.

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office. 

 

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP:  Please be sure to read to page 125 by TODAY.  We will meet TODAY during lunch in H1.

 

HISTORY CLUB: Students—if you are interested in joining/creating a History Club, see or e-mail Mr. Ward in room A-3 this week. 

 

TICO’S TACOS:  Come out and support ASB on October 15th at Tico’s Tacos, previously Wanna Iguana.  Bring your flyers all day.

 

TEEN READ WEEK DEMONSTRATION:  Come celebrate Teen Read Week Books with Bite by coming to the Pastry demonstration by Cindy Schwanke, head of the culinary department at COC.  The demo will be Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 10:15 in the library.  Pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Limbaugh in the library.

 

INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL:  Sign ups for intramural football are taking place in room C-5.  Get 4 friends and sign up your team in room C-5 at brunch and lunch this week!

 

KEY CLUB APPLICATION FORMS:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  It’s time to turn in your application forms!!  The deadline is TODAY.  Turn in your applications in room V-1. 

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

CAREERS IN LAW SEMINAR:  Meet with attorneys and explore a career in law on Monday, October 27 at 10:30 in Room H1.  Learn about educational requirements, job duties, salary ranges and more!  Pick up a permission slip in the Career Center.

 

MOUNT ST. MARY’S VISITATION:  A representative from Mount St. Mary's College will meet with juniors and seniors on Wed., 10/22 at 8:00 in the Career Center.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY VISITATION:  Would you like to attend college in Arizona?  Meet with a representative from Grand Canyon University on Tues., 10/28 at 11:30 in the Career Center and learn about programs, campus life and more.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP FOR SENIORS: The FRIENDS of Arts Education at the Cerritos Center are offering scholarships to seniors who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts.
