GENERAL
STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEND THEIR BRUNCH AND/OR LUNCH TIME LOITERING IN THE G-BUILDING, OR ON THE STAIRWELLS OF THE G-BUILDING.
Health Office: When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office. It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home. Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.
This Saturday from 9am to 1pm at College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus.

PUBLICITY BOARDS: Don’t forget to look at the Publicity Boards located throughout the school for information and school events and activities.
RUGBY CLUB: All Canyon boys and girls interested in playing rugby this year meet in room A-1 TODAY at lunch.
BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP: Please be sure to read to page 125 by Friday. We will meet on Friday during lunch in H1.
HISTORY CLUB: Students—if you are interested in joining/creating a History Club, see or e-mail Mr. Ward in room A-3 this week.
TEEN READ WEEK DEMONSTRATION: Come celebrate Teen Read Week Books with Bite by coming to the Pastry demonstration by Cindy Schwanke, head of the culinary department at COC. The demo will be Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 10:15 in the library. Pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Limbaugh in the library.
INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL: Sign ups for intramural football are taking place in room C-5. Get 4 friends and sign up your team in room C-5 at brunch and lunch this week!
KEY CLUB APPLICATION FORMS: Hey Key Clubbers!! It’s time to turn in your application forms!! The deadline is Friday, October 10th. Turn in your applications in room V-1.
CAREER CENTER NEWS
GEOSCIENTISTS CAREER SEMINAR: Geoscientists predict the behavior of Earth systems and help define the balance between society's demand for natural resources and the need to sustain healthy ecosystems . Attend the Geosciences Career Seminar on Fri., Nov. 7 at 9:15 and learn about careers such as Seismologists, Volcanologists and Environmental Geologists. Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.
COLLEGE INFORMATION RECEPTIONS: The following schools will hold Information Receptions in the Los Angeles during October: Bowdoin College on Oct. 15 at the Westin Pasadena and Lehigh University on Sun., Oct. 19 in Los Angeles. Stop by the Career Center for details.
PREVIEW DAY AT CSUN:” CSUN will host a Preview Day on Sat., 10/25 from 8:30 to 2:00. Students will have an opportunity to take campus tours, receive application assistance, attend workshops regarding and financial aid. Stop by the Career Center for details!

THE STUDENT TASK FORCE meets TODAY in room G201 at lunch.
JOY CLUB MEETING: There is a meeting in room B-7 at lunch TODAY. Bring your lunch.
OPERATION US will be meeting in E3 at lunch TODAY. Operation US shirts and information about upcoming presentations will be distributed. If you have a scheduling conflict, please see Ms. Mast in E3 or Mr. Ballard in A7.
SENIORS
SENIORS: The Young Entrepreneur Foundation is offering over 400 scholarships ranging in value of $1,000-$10,000 to students who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit. Examples include: starting his/her own business; designing web sites; and participating in organizations such as Junior Achievement; Future Business Leaders and community service. SENIORS: The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has $35 million in scholarships to hand out to exceptional high school students.
