GENERAL

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEND THEIR BRUNCH AND/OR LUNCH TIME LOITERING IN THE G-BUILDING, OR ON THE STAIRWELLS OF THE G-BUILDING.

Health Office:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office. 

This Saturday from 9am to 1pm at College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus.

-Admission is free

-High School Parents and Students are invited

-Meet with college and university reps from across the nation

Workshop Include:

Exploring the UC System- CSU System- SAT & ACT Test Secrets- The Community College: Programs and Transfer- Financial Aid Process- Admission Essays, Recommendations, and Interview- Private School Admission- College Bound Athlete

PUBLICITY BOARDS:  Don’t forget to look at the Publicity Boards located throughout the school for information and school events and activities.

RUGBY CLUB: All Canyon boys and girls interested in playing rugby this year meet in room A-1 on Thursday, October 9, at lunch.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP:  Please be sure to read to page 125 by Friday.  We will meet on Friday during lunch in H1.

HISTORY CLUB:  Students—if you are interested in joining/creating a History Club, see or e-mail Mr. Ward in room A-3 this week. 

TEEN READ WEEK DEMONSTRATION:  Come celebrate Teen Read Week Books with Bite by coming to the Pastry demonstration by Cindy Schwanke, head of the culinary department at COC.  The demo will be Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 10:15 in the library.  Pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Limbaugh in the library.

INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL:  Sign ups for intramural football are taking place in room C-5.  Get 4 friends and sign up your team in room C-5 at brunch and lunch this week!

KEY CLUB APPLICATION FORMS:  Hey Key Clubbers!!  It’s time to turn in your application forms!!  The deadline is Friday, October 10^th.  Turn in your applications in room V-1. 

CAREER CENTER NEWS

UC RIVERSIDE VISITATION:  A representative from UC Riverside will meet with students TODAY at 10:45 in the Career Center.  Learn about programs, campus life, application process and more!  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

MAJORQUEST AT COC:  MajorQuest provides high school students with an opportunity to find out "Who Do You Want To Be?"  In a fair-like setting students can explore college educational programs, meet with faculty and find out about educational pathways.  MajorQuest will take place at COC's Valencia campus on Oct. 21 from 11 - 2.  Flyers are available in the Career Center.

CAMPUS OPEN HOUSES:  The following schools will hold Open Houses this fall:  UC Santa Cruz - Sat., Oct. 11, Univ. of the Pacific - Sat., Oct. 11, UCLA School of Arts & Architecture -Sat., Oct. 18, UC Davis - Sat., Oct. 18, UC Riverside - Sat., Oct. 28, Cal Maritime - Sat., Nov. 8, 

Cal State Dominguez Hills - Sat., Nov. 15, Stop by the Career Center for registration information.

PREVIEW DAY AT CSUN:  CSUN will host a Preview Day on Sat., 10/25 from 8:30 to 2:00.  Students will have an opportunity to take campus tours, receive application assistance, attend workshops regarding and financial aid.  Stop by the Career Center for details!

MEETINGS

Today the ANIME club is meeting in G-220 at lunch...see you there!

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL:  There is a brief meeting TODAY at lunch in room G-206.

KEY CLUB GENERAL MEETING: There is a GENERAL meeting for ALL Key Club members TODAY at lunch in the gym. 

NATIONAL ART HONORS SOCIETY meeting TODAY at Lunch in room T4.

THE STUDENT TASK FORCE meets every Thursday in room G201 at lunch.

JOY CLUB MEETING:  There is a meeting in room B-7 at lunch on October 9^th.  Bring your lunch.

OPERATION US will be meeting in E3 at lunch on Thursday October 9th.  Operation US shirts and information about upcoming presentations will be distributed.  If you have a scheduling conflict, please see Ms. Mast in E3 or Mr. Ballard in A7. 

SENIORS

UC APPLICATION AND PERSONAL STATEMENT WORKSHOP:  Seniors planning to apply to a UC campus are invited to attend a UC Application and Personal Statement Workshop TODAY at 11:25 in the Library.  Permission slips may be picked up in the Career Center.
