GENERAL

 

CANYON HOME FOOTBALL GAMES:  Hey Cowboys—here are some reminders for our home games.  NO Body Paint or Noise Makers are allowed.  Also, NO Skateboards or Scooters are allowed anywhere on campus, which includes the parking lot and football game.  Also, be reminded that once you enter the football game and leave—YOU MAY NOT RE-ENTER.  Bring what you need for the evening with you when you arrive at the game.  Since this is a school –sponsored event, the Canyon High School DRESS CODE will be strictly enforced.  ANY inappropriate attire (clothing, accessories, or headgear) will result in entrance refusal and possible removal if non-compliant. 

 

GIRLS LOCKER ROOM closes every Friday at 3:15.

 

ATTENTION CANYON IMPROV TEAM: There will be rehearsal TODAY from 2-4 PM in the Q-Theatre to make up for the rehearsals missed due to fall break. Please make your best effort to attend. We will be reviewing the successes of the Improvathon and planning our next big show/competition.

 

TEEN READ WEEK IS COMING- OCTOBER 12-18!!  Celebrate the theme: "Books with Bite" when Cindy Swanke, the head of the COC Culinary department comes to speak.   She will be in the library On October 14,  period 4.  See Mrs. Limbaugh in the library for a permission slip.

 

ARE YOU SASSY?  Hey all you junior and senior girls—do you have what it takes to walk the catwalk?  If so, sign up in the ASB Office by October 8 to be a model in the Sassy Fashion Show.  It will be held

On October 22 at lunch.  ONLY the first 12 girls will be accepted!  Are you Sassy??

 

ASB 4TH/RENAISSANCE is offering a day at Disneyland to all Renaissance cardholders on Oct. 10. The cost is $60 and includes tickets, bus, and chaperones. Busses leave school at lunch and will return after the park closes at midnight. Tickets are available in the ASB office and must be purchased by Wednesday Oct. 8th. Since you will be missing afternoon classes, this is open to Renaissance cardholders ONLY.  the last day to buy tickets is TODAY.  Permission slips must be turned in with $60 to the ASB office by TODAY.

 

AVID students are selling Heritage Haunt tickets.  It is being held every weekend in October, tickets are $8.  You can buy tickets in room C4. You can also go online to www.scvhaunt.com and buy tickets from CANYON HIGH.

CAREER CENTER NEWS

 

CSUN VISITATION:  Attention Seniors:  Meet with a representative from CSUN on Wed., 10/22 and learn about CSUN and the Cal State System.  The meeting will take place in the Library at 10:30.  Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.

 

INFORMATION MEETINGS:  Learn about campus life, programs, admissions and financial aid at Information Sessions!  Brown University and Yale University will hold several information sessions in the Los Angeles area during October.  Stop by the Career Center for dates and registration information.

 

SENIORS

 

UC APPLICATION AND PERSONAL STATEMENT WORKSHOP:  Seniors planning to apply to a UC campus are invited to attend a UC Application and Personal Statement Workshop on Wednesday, October 8 at 11:25 in the Library.  Permission slips are required and may be picked up in the Career Center.

 

SENIORS:  The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has $35 million in scholarships to hand out to exceptional high school students. Scholars are selected based upon academic achievement, their capacity to lead, and their hours of dedication. SENIORS: The Young Entrepreneur Foundation is offering over 400 scholarships ranging in value of $1,000-$10,000 to students who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit. Examples include: starting his/her own business; designing web sites; and participating in organizations such as Junior Achievement; Future Business Leaders and community service.
